The Blues were two goals in front at the break after dominating the first half, but the visitors hit back through Matt Taylor before Jason Scotland sealed it late on.

Kane Ferdinand had already spurned one opportunity when he opened the scoring in the sixth minute, the Republic of Ireland U19 international heading in the second off Luke Chambers’s knee five minutes later. Middlesbrough have had a fee accepted for the 24-year-old and a deal is expected to go through in the next couple of days. However, Rovers boss Dean Saunders believes other clubs could still move for Friend with Nottingham Forest - now managed by ex-Doncaster boss Sean O'Driscoll - said to be amongst them.
