A Town U18 side beat Whitton United 4-3 in an entertaining match at the King George V Playing Field on Saturday afternoon. Jon Leddy (pictured) put Town ahead before goals from Chris Williams and Kevin Inglis gave the hosts the lead. Jack Simmons and Elliot Scotcher then restored Town’s advantage before Marcus Josiah equalised, prior to an unfortunate own goal from Robbie Knott giving the Blues’ youngsters the win.

Town suffered their second heavy defeat of the Easter period as Swansea ran out comfortable 4-1 winners at the Liberty Stadium. Fabio Borini put the home side in front on nine, Luke Moore adding the second before Colin Healy pulled one back for the Blues. Borini netted his second before the break and Scott Sinclair completed the scoring with a second half penalty.

Caolan Lavery and Tom Winter scored the goals as Town’s U18s beat Portsmouth 2-1 at Playford Road despite playing for 81 minutes with only 10 men. Defender Jide Maduako was red-carded in the ninth minute for denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity.

Grant Leadbitter netted twice, the second a penalty, and Connor Wickham once as the Blues drew 3-3 at home to Middlesbrough. Leadbitter put the Blues in front early on, but two goals in a minute just before the break from Andy Halliday and Scott McDonald saw the visitors into a surprise lead. Boro extended their lead after the restart via Andrew Taylor but Connor Wickham and then Leadbitter from the spot levelled with both teams having opportunities to win it late on.

Town boss Paul Jewell has hinted that he could recall midfielder Lee Martin to his side when the Blues take on Middlesbrough at Portman Road tonight looking to win four league games in a row for the first time since 2004. Martin has missed the last two matches having been suspended after picking up his 10th booking of the season.

Boss Paul Jewell is looking forward to his first game under the Portman Road floodlights but says he expects Reading to prove to be tough opponents (KO 7.45pm). Town are definitely without Mark Kennedy and Colin Healy, while a couple of unnamed players were facing fitness tests this morning.

Boss Paul Jewell says he was impressed with Town’s reserves during their 3-0 victory over Oxford United at Didcot’s Loop Meadow on Wednesday. It was only the second time the new Town manager had caught his fringe players in match action since he came the club, Chris Kiwomya's men previously beating Fulham 2-0 in a behind closed doors friendly at Playford Road.

Goals from Damien Delaney, David Norris and a stunning third from Connor Wickham saw the Blues to a 3-0 victory over nine-man Sheffield United. Delaney put Town in front with a header in a very poor first half with Norris adding the second after the break. Grant Leadbitter missed a penalty before Wickham brilliantly ran from his own half to seal the win, prior to Robert Kozluk and Lee Williamson receiving red cards within a minute during the closing stages.
