Morris Nets Twice and Sears Ends Drought as U23s Thrash Millwall Mon 29th Jan 2018 15:02
Ben Morris scored twice and Flynn Downes, Freddie Sears - his first goal of the season at any level - and Aaron Drinan netted once each as the Blues U23s returned to winning ways by thrashing Millwall 5-0 at a wet and windy Playford Road. However, midfielder Tom Adeyemi's return from injury lasted only 34 minutes.

Leon Best and Shane McLoughlin (pictured) were on target as Town's U23s defeated Millwall 2-1 at Playford Road this afternoon, their first win of the season. Best, who made way at half-time having suffered an ankle knock, netted just before the break with his replacement McLoughlin adding the second on 74 before Noel Leighton pulled one back for the Lions with 11 minutes remaining.

Academy striker Paul Murphy is set to win his third Republic of Ireland U19 cap this morning when his side take on hosts Malta in the first game in their UEFA Championship qualifying group.

Paul Murphy has been called up to the Republic of Ireland U19 squad to play in the UEFA Championship qualifiers in Malta. If selected he'll play against Malta, Liechtenstein and France who were semi-finalists from last season's European Championships. He'll join up with the squad on November 17th.

Academy striker Paul Murphy has been named in the Republic of Ireland U19 squad playing a four-team international tournament later this month. The Irish youngsters take on Portugal, Spain and Ukraine in games played at Athlone, Longford and Tullamore.

Town should have Ricardo Fuller in the squad for Saturday's trip to Wolves but have injury concerns regarding Sito (knee), Fabian Wilnis (ribs) and Jimmy Juan (heel). Alan Lee (hamstring), Gavin Williams (knee, shin and ankle) and Danny Haynes (ankle) are all still sidelined.
