Town have received good news regarding frontmen Nicky Forster and Adam Proudlock, both of whom have been out of action with knee problems of late. Forster will not now require exploratory surgery, while Proudlock is expected to return to training later in the week.

Icelandic keeper Óskar Pétursson was red-carded for a professional foul in the 12th minute as the U18s were thrashed 6-1 at West Ham on Saturday morning. With no glovesman on the bench, full-back Sammy Moore took over in goal. Charlie Sheringham netted for the Blues.

Boss Joe Royle bemoaned his side's lack of a cutting edge after their FA Cup exit at the hands of Portsmouth. The resurgent Blues impressed and were unfortunate to lose the game 1-0, Uruguayan striker Dario Silva netting in the first half.

Unlucky Town's 2005/06 FA Cup campaign came to an end at the third round stage as Portsmouth left Portman Road with a 1-0 victory. Dario Silva scored the goal in the 36th minute, but the Blues controlled most of the game with Jason De Vos hitting the post in the second half.

Boss Joe Royle has confirmed that left-back Scott Barron will start Saturday's FA Cup third round tie at home to Portsmouth. Royle, the last English manager to win the trophy with Everton back in 1995, is keen for the Blues enjoy a rare cup run this season.
