Dan Harding is out of Saturday's trip to Luton but Matt Richards is OK and is included in an 18-man squad. Both sustained ankle injuries in Tuesday's 1-0 defeat at Preston.

Midfielder Gavin Williams returns to the squad for the first time since late January as the Blues travel to take on Preston North End at Deepdale. The Blues are without the suspended Alan Lee, but Jon Walters is back in the squad after missing the Southend game with a hamstring problem.

Mark Gower put his side ahead with the Blues appealing for an offside and still protesting the lack of an earlier penalty award, then Peter Clarke added another from a set piece. Late on Lee was sent off for handling the ball into the net.

Only George O'Callaghan and Jon Walters troubled ex-Town keeper Kelvin Davis in the Southampton goal as the Blues failed to score for the sixth game in succession and their seventh match in a row away from home.

Striker Billy Clarke has emerged as a doubt ahead of Saturday's trip to Southampton. The Irish youngster felt sore after Wednesday's reserve game at Norwich and will be assessed later today prior to the squad departing for the south coast.
