Town tonight put themselves into the second round of the UEFA Cup after they beat a defensive Torpedo Moscow 2-1 on the night, 3-2 on aggregate. The Russian side were content with their one away goal and played like a typical away side by trying to catch us on the break.

The Town players and staff enjoyed some sightseeing yesterday prior to tonight's match against Torpedo Moscow. Red Square and the Kremlin were visited, but maybe more importantly they later sat down to watch a video of the first leg.

The eventual scoreline of 4-0 was a touch flattering to Manchester United, although Town can have little argument with the result. The match was much like last season’s game at Old Trafford with United dominant in the first half, but with a second period more even, although Town rarely threatened.

In the end Town could count themselves unlucky not to take a lead back to Moscow for the second leg next week. However, for much of the game it looked like the Russians would run out the winners. Titus Bramble was both hero and villain and Marcus Stewart missed a first half penalty.

A controversial last minute goal saw Peter Taylor grab a lifeline on an afternoon of high drama, but little impressive football. A year or so ago Barry Knight was the anti-hero of Bolton as he sent off two of their players and gave Town three penalties in the second leg of the play-off semi. Few of those decisions were debatable, however the two red cards, one penalty, a hatful of bookings, the failure to red card Robbie Savage and finally the late Dean Sturridge goal left supporters with a lot to talk about after the game.

The squad for the Leicester trip has been announced and looks likely that Jamie Clapham will return to the bench after a successful reserve outing for John McGreal. Hermann Hreidarsson will switch to left back.

Town fell to a surprise 1-0 home defeat as Charlton carried out a successful smash and grab raid at Portman Road. The Blues really ought to have got something from the game, but just couldn't get the break which would have put them ahead. Kevin Lisbie's late goal took the points to the Valley.

Town have announced that Internazionale's Sixto Peralta is likely to join on a season's loan later this week. The 22-year-old ex-Italian U21 international will arrive in the next couple of days and Town are hopeful that all the details will be ready for him to be included in the squad for Saturday's game with Charlton.
