Town manager Joe Royle is ringing the changes for the Blues' home Carling Cup tie with Brentford. Scott Barron is handed his senior debut, while Scott Mitchell will start for the first time. In goal, Welsh U21 stopper Lewis Price will make his inaugural senior appearance at Portman Road.

Town notched their second home win of the season with a comfortable 3-1 win against Cardiff City, and in doing so went fifth in the table. Darren Bent put the Blues ahead in the first half but Alan Lee hit back after the break, only for Tommy Miller and Ian Westlake to net for Town.

Summer signing Jason De Vos has been forced to drop out of the Canada squad facing Guatemala on Wednesday after an x-ray showed a stress fracture of the tibia. The injury, discovered after the 30-year-old broke down in training with Frank Yallop's squad, could see the former Wigan man miss a number of Town matches.
