A Dean Bowditch penalty and a low Jordan Rhodes drive from the edge of the box gave Town's reserves a 2-0 victory over Braintree in Brad Quinton's testimonial at Cressing Road. Boss Jim Magilton made a rare appearance from the bench during the second half.

Town have announced their squad for Thursday's Twenty20 cricket match against Ipswich and East Suffolk at Chantry Park. A year ago a similar game ended in a somewhat contrived draw as bad light stopped play in the 22nd over of the Town innings with the Blues two runs short of Ipswich and East Suffolk's 147 all out, having lost 13 wickets.

Two penalties from Tommy Miller helped the Blues to a 3-2 victory over Brighton at the Withdean Stadium. Kevin Lisbie had put Town in front before the Albion hit back via Nicky Forster and Kevin McLeod prior to Miller's double.

Ex-Town goalkeeper-coach Andy Rhodes has taken on the same role with Premier League Manchester City. Rhodes, father of Town striker Jordan, left the Blues at the end of last season.

A strong Town reserve side defeated Tiptree United 5-0 at their Chapel Road ground on Thursday evening. Jordan Rhodes netted twice in the first half with Alex Bruce, Jack Ainsley and Billy Clarke scoring after the break, although Town should have won by many, many more.

Northampton Town manager Stuart Gray has commented on reports earlier in the week linking him with a loan move for Town striker Jordan Rhodes. Boss Jim Magilton subsequently said he would be unwilling to allow the 18-year-old move at present, but could loan the youngster later in the season.
