Ex-Town academy coach Ian Smith has been sentenced to 250 hours of unpaid work having admitted the theft of nearly £7,000 from former players Matt Bloomfield and Adem Atay. Smith had taken the money to make investments for the players but instead used it to pay gambling debts. |

Former academy coach Ian Smith has pleaded guilty to 14 charges of theft from ex-players. Smith, who left the Blues in April 2004, stole £6,900 from former Town trainees including Matt Bloomfield, now with Wycombe Wanderers. |
