After an impressive first period, Bowyer put the Blues ahead just before half-time, Stephen Hunt and then a later Sylvan Ebanks-Blake penalty winning it for the visitors after the break. |

Town’s pre-season friendly at Colchester United was abandoned with eight minutes to go at 0-0 after U’s midfielder Andy Bond suffered a facial injury in a collision with his keeper Mark Cousins. Bond required lengthy treatment with the injury considered so severe that an ambulance was brought to the edge of the pitch causing the abandonment, with Bond eventually helped across to it with blood streaming down his face. |

Town were held to a disappointing 1-1 draw at League Two Southend on Friday evening despite a brilliant first half goal by Lee Martin. Paul Jewell’s men were the better side in the first half but faded badly in a second period in which Neil Harris netted an equaliser for the home side. |
