Midfielder Martin Brittain looks set to make only his second Town appearance when the Blues travel to Chester City for Saturday's third round FA Cup tie. The former Newcastle United man has returned from his loan spell at Yeovil very much in manager Jim Magilton's plans.

Midfielder Owen Garvan played 67 minutes as Town's reserves defeated Norwich 3-0 in the second string derby at Playford Road. Derby goal specialist Danny Haynes netted twice, once from the spot, and Darryl Knights added his seventh in his last four competitive reserve games.

Two goals in the final five minutes gave Town's reserves a 3-1 victory over Colchester United in their first home league game of the season at Playford Road. Liam Trotter netted twice and Darryl Knights once for the Blues, while Jamie Guy scored for the visitors.

Striker Danny Haynes netted his second and third goals at Carrow Road this season as the reserves completed the double over Norwich City. Haynes put the Blues in front on 10 and, after Ryan Jarvis had equalised from the spot, won the game with another penalty just after the hour mark.

Ricardo Fuller will make his debut for the Blues against Leicester City after being granted a work permit on Thursday morning. The Jamaican could partner Danny Haynes who is in with a good chance of returning to the Town starting line-up.

Town's hopes of retaining the FA Youth Cup won last May are over after the U18s lost 2-1 at Liverpool. The young Blues were unlucky to be defeated with Liverpool keeper Dave Roberts making a number of saves and Kieran Leabon having a late goal ruled out.

Town's U18s continue their defence of the FA Youth Cup tonight when they take on Liverpool at Anfield (KO 7pm). A fifth round trip to Burnley prior to Saturday, 4th February awaits the victors of the tie.

Struggling Town fell to yet another defeat as their first trip to Hull City's KC Stadium brought a 2-0 loss. Both Tigers goals came in the second half from Nick Barmby and Craig Fagan.
