About 15 minutes of the 90 we were just about ok. So many players not up for it tonight.
I’d prefer Burgess in place of Greaves.

9 out of 10 for Brightons diving performance throughout the match! Brighton started brightly without troubling the keeper & Town worked themselves back into the game & had the three most dangerous shots just shading the first half. They started the 2nd half well but the Brighton goal seemed to inspire them & knock the wind out of town who never looked like equalising even before the 2nd goal.

A scruffy, scrappy affair where two opportune lucky deflections won the day. Nuff said rollon Sunday for the big boys Greaves was woefully slow on turning and off the pace. Subs just didnt make a difference for us today.

Positively you’d prefer Burgess over Greaves ?? I’d prefer a wheely bin over Wallyden. In the second half he kicked an attempted clearance 40ft straight up in the air and then he missed it as it came down and bounced up to hit him in the ging gangs. Absolutely useless. If we play like that for the rest of the season we’re 100% going down unfortunately. A very very poor night.

That was an unimaginatively poor display - not a one (other than Broadhead maybe) deserve their paycheck for that game. I hate to single out anyone among an awful gaggle, but for me Kalvin Phillips is an absolute zero - in his position, you need to turn some of those passes from the back into positive turns and runs (maybe 1-2 times per game) instead of pinging them back to where they came from. Hopefully, got all the uglies out of the way in one game and can out a "Chelsea performance" together against City.

Just wonder if Morsy would have been in that big gap the defence left open for the first goal? Before they scored it was a pretty low quality stalemate. The first goal was initially a mistake by Greaves but then when they crossed the ball in, our defenders were so transfixed that they forgot to get tight on the players in the box. It was a strange lapse in concentration. But I wasn’t too worried as I assumed there was going to be a heroic fight back, and my 426 mile motorcycle round trip on a Thursday night in January was going to be worth it. But the fight-back just never got off the ground. I have to give Brighton some credit for that. They broke up our play time and time again with monotonous effectiveness. They also pressed well when we tried to reverted to ‘play it out from the back - give the fans a heart attack’. Has anyone else noticed that we are not pressing anymore? Delap is no longer charging at a terrified keeper. He just jogs about now. I can understand that tactically we may want the opposition to advance and then we pinch the ball and break, but there didn’t seem to be a coordinated effort to do this. It just looked a bit half hearted. When Morsy came on, things briefly improved as he lead by example but then the second goal happened. I couldn’t see who is was but he had a chance to poke it clear and instead just stared at it. Time stood still an Rutter took that time to try his luck with a back heel. Luck was on his side. Game over.

Poor display and lost to the better team. We rarely had control of the game and relied on counter attacks. Formation clearly was not working so surprised it was not changed more. Burns and O’Shea had decent games however the rest average. Walton was clearly affected by Pedro’s challenge and I agree with the view he should have got a red. His confidence looked shot for the rest of the game.

A sliced clearance and another silly foul by Morsey waa all it took.
Hutchison seemed a able to pass the ball so all of his runs came to nothing
Our next two games could be fatal

I prefer a knackered 33 year old Morsy to Phillips who contributes absolutely nothing apart from scoring against Bristol Rovers about his limit now. I never knock players that give one hundred percent . Hutchinson has been lambasted for his performance but he done ten times more than Leslie Phillips last night who has no excuse being an England international.
