After Sunday
at 09:25 4 Feb 2019

We're down. You know it, I know it, the players, manager and owner probably know it too. I would like to see our preparations for next year start right away. After the derby on Sunday we should only play players who have a realistic chance of being here next year. Start bedding them in now so they can hit the ground running next season. Let's face it, they can't do any worse!

Will Paul Hurst win a game as Ipswich manager
at 08:05 3 Oct 2018

Or will he be sacked first?
I originally thought this was just a bedding in period but we are so abjectly bad in front of both goals that I just can't see us winning a game . We played some reasonable football last night I thought but if you make defensive mistakes like that and your idea of incisive attacking football is punting in the general direction of a lone striker wins are not going to come anytime soon ...

Sober views on yesterday
at 12:08 3 Sep 2018

Having sobered up and watched the highlights back I have a few observations:
Both sides looked pretty poor; however I believe we were marginally the better side. Not sure if we did enough to 'deserve' a win though. A draw was probably a fair result in all honesty.
This was the first game I had been to this season. My view on the new regime is that there is certainly potential there; however I have some concerns. I like Edwards a lot. He is a great signing and will cause defences a lot of problems. Pennington looks a class act and a fantastic (albeit temporary) addition. My worry is where the goals are coming from. Walters has never been prolific and I worry that Jackson and Harrison are not quite good enough at this level (hope I'm wrong). Replacing the goals of Waggy, Garner and McGoldrick was always going to be a big ask. Expecting a 36 year old who has never exactly banged them in and two unproven lower league signings to do it troubles me greatly.
I predict a long, hard season for both East Anglian clubs; however I think both will just about have enough to survive the difference being we are putting into place something to build on whereas they are just on a downward spiral.
Lastly, does anyone who's managed to read all of that know why the Norwich manager was wearing a coat? It was boiling!

Importance of Sunday
at 09:45 29 Aug 2018

The two play off games aside (obviously) this is the most important derby for some time. A victory over the sister botherers could be just the shot in the arm our season and the PH reign needs. If we were to turn the yellow filth over imagine the confidence boost it will bring to a group of players who, in the main, are new to this league. Conversely, if we were to lose, the rot may well and truly set in and a long season will be ahead of us.
I see it as fairly similar for them. If they turn us over they're off and running. If we beat them they will be on a downer as well and could be in for a long slog.
Alternatively, it could be two poor sides playing out a drab draw in an early season relegation dog fight ...

Bart for Interim Manager
at 08:22 11 Apr 2018

I would put Bart in charge for the last few games as player manager. He's our best player by a mile, can see the game from his position in goal and we want him to stay so the show of faith might encourage him to sign a new contract. If he does well could make it a permanent arrangement.

Dirty, filthy, yellow and green scum
at 19:28 16 Feb 2018

I’ve read their comments on us in that Harry from Bath thing. Their smugness and arrogance disgusts me. They’re inbred scum and I can’t think of anything better than beating them.
On Sunday we all need to put mick in / out views to one side and really give it to them.
This will be my 5th trip to that sh1t hole and I’m on 3 draws and a loss to date ... time to add a win!

Binners

So, I've been perusing the sister botherers' message boards to judge their mood ahead of Sunday and they refer to us as 'Binners'. Anyone have any idea why they do this?

What's the general situation with Millwall - are there away pubs near the ground or is it better / safer to drink near London Bridge and do a quick to the ground and out in the local area?!

Election Thoughts

Brexit is going to happen. There are only two people who can realistically emerge as PM following the election. If you think that Corbyn would do a better job at negotiating Brexit than May then you need to go and see a doctor.

Sir Bobby Robson Dinner
at 09:07 30 Mar 2017

I assume the profits from the £72 a head they are asking for the dinner on Sunday 16th are going to the charity and not the club? The avert says there will be a charity raffle but nothing about where the proceeds from ticket sales goes ...

£10
at 13:20 24 Mar 2017

Don't get me wrong I'm grateful for the £10 ticket for Newcastle I've just purchased however I can't help but think they've picked the wrong game to do this on. I was going to go to Newcastle anyway and would have happily paid full price, I'm sure a few others would as well. Wouldn't it be better to do cheap tickets for a less attractive game. If they'd done it for say Wigan they'd have got £37.50 out of me instead they're only getting a tenner!

ST Prices
at 13:40 17 Mar 2017

I'm going to ignore the 1.5% rise on the basis that we can all agree this is just ridiculous. Its wont even be economical. It will cause enough people to not renew to more than make up for any increased revenue from those that do.
Price rise aside what has really annoyed me is two things. Firstly, the change in senior price from 60-65. I kind of understand this but I think there should be an amnesty for people like my father who are currently between the two ages. The club say some 800 people fall into this category. On the basis that we have around 12,000 ST holders this is a disproportionately high number for a 5 year age range. I can only assume that the club has calculated that people in this age range tend to be relatively secure financially and has gambled that the majority will just swallow it. A dangerous assumption and a kick in the teeth for a large group of fans who have been loyal for a long time.
Second thing is the introduction of an 'Under 23' discount. I really don't see the need for this. A 23 year old is just as much of an adult as anyone. Encouraging younger fans is great if you serve them up good football, you'll get them hooked and then they'll pay adult prices in years to come, I get that. But doing this for 20-23 year olds? They'll know if they like football / support Ipswich or not, if they haven't been to a game by the time they're 20, I'd wager they're not football fans and are unlikely to be attracted to the game now. All this policy will do is give those aged 20-23 a cheap ticket at the expense of the aforementioned 60-65 year olds who have been loyal for years. Please don't think I'm some grumpy old man moaning about kids getting preferential treatment, I'm 30. This just seems like rewarding new comers at the expense of loyal fans ...
