 | News Comment | McKenna: Muric Calf Injury, Burns Hamstring at 20:53:16
Players like Burns, and others that have been with us since League One must have been pushing their bodies extremely hard to get their fitness up to Premiee League levels. It's an enormous credit to them that they've put that work in. However, the risk of injuries is going to be very high as a result. When they have some post work out inflammation and could benefit from a day's rest, they still have to get on it the next day because they will need to build up their stamina for the season. On the plus side, once the new signings are bedded in then the bench can be used more and the squad better rotated. |
 | News Comment | Slot: Credit to Ipswich, They Were Not Afraid at 19:29:57
Not sure why anyone has an issue with what he said. Think considering he's an opposition manager, it's a pretty fair assessment. I would probably argue that it was fatigue and a lack of squad depth, which we'll unfortunately have to endure for a couple of weeks, that cost us, rather than the gulf in quality. Remember last year battering teams and hearing managers stating how Ipswich got lucky and that they should have won. Pretty impressed with Slot and I wish him well this season. |

He's very good on the ball, very athletic. Has excellent distribution. The only fault I can find with him is that his shooting leaves a lot to be desired. Would be an upgrade on Luongo. |
 | News Comment | Blues 'Preparing Move' For Sunderland's Clarke at 08:02:50
This would be an excellent signing. I am really not that excited about Szmodics. Yes he was impressive last season, but up until then he'd been average. I'd trust McKenna if we signed him, but the Jack Clarke deal is much more exciting and important in my opinion. |
 | News Comment | Philogene 'Set to Rejoin Villa' at 16:52:12
Just want to point out that the source of this story is The Mirror, which is just a slightly more left wing brand of toilet paper compared to The Sun or the Daily Mail. He might come to us or he might leave but this story is based on nothing more than have a couple of backpage column inches to fill |
 | News Comment | Town 'Remain Favourites' to Sign Philogene at 12:35:48
Europa, perhaps I've misunderstood the whole thing but if he comes to us, Everton or Palace, Hull will get 18 million, and if he goes to Villa around 13-14 million. |
 | News Comment | Town 'Remain Favourites' to Sign Philogene at 10:45:35
My suspicion is that our bid is acceptable to Hull, but Villa as part of last year's transfer will pay much less, which would be unacceptable to Hull. Therefore, if he wants to come to us, Everton or Palace he will leave, but if he wants to go to Villa, Hull will shut the whole transfer down. He won't end up at Villa. It'll be us or spending another season at Hull I reckon. |
 | News Comment | McKenna: Posh a Really Difficult and Dangerous Opponent at 21:20:03
This game really screams banana skin, for all the reasons that other comments have mentioned. However, on the other hand, if we win this game on it then I really will believe we're up. If we win, Barnsley are completely out of the automatic race, and they would be stupid to risk too much trying to beat us, so I think we'll be good for at least a draw, and Exeter and Fleetwood will both be safe, and I think we should be able to get two wins there. Sitting here on Friday evening, my brain says we're going up, my gut says we'll blow it. |
 | Blog Comment | Five Reasons to Be Optimistic and Five Reasons to Remain Cautious at 21:00:02
Really enjoyable blog. I am usually a very pessimistic supporter. After a couple of defeats I'm usually having us down for relegation, but for the first time since Joe Royle was manager, I am genuinely optimistic. I really do think we will make the playoffs. Mostly this is just a gut feeling, but there are a few reasons why I am so confident. 1) The gap is not THAT big. There is precedent for teams making up such a gap. 2) with the squad we have, we should be fighting for an automatic spot. The reason we aren't is because of lacklustre/poor coaching and terrible game management. The two games that McK has overseen have demonstrated excellent passing and movement and game management, which suggests the coaching is good. 3) the more time the players get on the training ground, the better the passing and movement will get 4) discounting the Gillingham game, the last two games have been against two of the form teams in the league and we've matched them. I am going to be the ridiculous optimist and say that we will finish top 5. |
 | News Comment | McKenna: A Really Pleasing Performance at 20:04:48
It's only two games, of course, and we shouldn't get too excited. However, I've already booked a flight to London for 21st May and a hotel in north-west London. |

Who the f*** are all these people who are pining for Warnock. I personally don't want that f***ing dinosaur anywhere near this club. This appointment looks fascinating. He seems to have an excellent work ethic, has the kind of experience that can bring long term benefits to the club and is probably the kind of coach whom Premier League managers would like to have working with their up and coming talents on a loan basis. Of course it can all go tits up, but I for one am sick of all these old journeyman managers with no fresh ideas. |
 | News Comment | Backdated Ban For Referee Drysdale at 19:28:02
I have to say, that if Alan Judge has admitted to being abusive to the referee, then he should be be fined or suspended by the club and the FA. It would have been no less than he deserved if the ref had floored him. |

 | News Comment | Clegg: Town Guided By League Regulations at 10:26:51
Boycott the rematch. No programme revenues, no catering revenues, no merchandise revenues, and some very very p***ed off match-day sponsors. Until people stop whinging and vote with their feet and their wallets, nothing will ever change. Cleggy wants to run ITFC as a business, well poor product at a high price = less customers and less revenue. BOYCOTT! |
 | News Comment | Clegg: Town Guided By League Regulations at 11:41:31
A very good blog. Tuesday's result certainly had the look of a freak result, and it does not mean that we should be dreaming of the play-offs. However, on an off-day West Ham are better than most of the Championship on a good day, and the result demonstrates that we have the quality to beat almost anyone on a good day. Where we finish in the table depends on how many good days we have, but I feel reassured that we won't get relegated, especially if we can get a competent defender on loan. So we are not going anywhere this season, and as previous commenters have mentioned, Jewell is now playing Hyam and Drury who have been impressive, the last few performances have been good bar shambolic defending. A good end of season, one or two signings in the summer, and next season we may have a solid, settled team going into the new season for the first time in a good few years. |
 | News Comment | Jewell Bemoans Calamitous Defending at 21:59:17
I was proud to be a Town fan when many of us applauded when Sharpe scored the 2nd. Not many fans would do that. Can't imagine that happening at Upton Park somehow. But hearing people calling for a managers head after THREE defeats is pathetic. Next week we won't lose. |
 | News Comment | Jewell Bemoans Calamitous Defending at 21:06:32
I am telling you I don't think there will be another 3 or 4 of these performances this season. There is real quality in this team and it will get better. How good were we against Boro, West Ham, Coventry and Brighton? The squad is better than what it was under Keane. I do think Jewell knows what he is doing, but we have injury problems. It is a sad fact that we rely so heavily on Sonko, but that won't be the case after January, and with lick he will be fit more than not. Really, I was so proud to be a Town fan this afternoon. When I read this short-sighted whiney drivel on here it leaves a pretty sour taste in the mouth. |
 | News Comment | Jewell Bemoans Calamitous Defending at 20:45:41
Burley/Holland is a terrible call. In cloud cuckoo land with the canaries! Now I was screaming for Keane to go like everyone, but Paul Jewell must stay or we will drift away like the two Sheffield clubs. We need consistency and stability. What has Burley done since he left us? What experience does Holland have (and why would he give up a potentially lucrative TV career)? Burley would sleep with a few WAGs and get sacked in 6 months. |
