Kingsley provides a great performance in Sexy Beast and is rightly lauded, but for me the best part is Ian McShane playing Teddy Bass. He nails a truely psychopathic crime boss perfectly.
Whilst the teams battling for 6th place and a potential place in the Prem (Cov, Boro and Millwall) have lost 16, 17 and 15 games respectively. It shows there’s a huge gap in quality even at the top end of the Championship.
He was a bit lost to start with but it was his lovely cross field pass to Hutchison that helped set up the goal. He’s another one who needs our support and backing because he certainly has the ability.
We obviously see Greaves as our future LCB considering his age and the fee paid, and I think he’ll come good. However, he goes to ground (in terms of sliding tackles etc) too often. The old motto for defenders was, “good defenders stay on their feet”. Hopefully this is something he’ll learn soon.
I may be in the minority, but I thought he’d stick with us simply because of the character he’s shown in the past few seasons. McKenna seems like a genuine, humble chap with old school values and morals, and it appears that he has a sense of duty to the club and fans for the faith and support we’ve given him in his time here.
Also, why would you jump ship at the first opportunity after arriving in the (so called) Promised Land, when the whole point of the “project” was to get us back up to the top flight. Hopefully we’ll have a successful season (i.e not relegation), and his stock will be just as high, if not higher. Even if we don’t, a young and progressive thinking manager will still be in demand, as shown by Vincent Kompany’s appointment at Bayern.
Despite him being an odious wife/girlfriend beater, that’s a great Beagrie story.
Anyone know what the story was with Dozzell Snr and Kiwomya, back in the day? The jist of it was bad behaviour involving a pavlova cake and an off-duty waiter.
Good article. The Premier League is following the same model as US sports. Clubs are becoming franchises, fans are consumers, prices (both tickets, wages and transfer fees) keep on rising, and before long I think they’ll try and scrap relegation.
Yes, it’s great to be back in the top flight, but I think the journey to get there will be more enjoyable than the destination.
