I wonder if York City FC have received any flack for their new away shirt…

I guess because I didn’t expect you to jump in like that.

All good.

No reason at all.

I don’t see it as over-analysis at all what with it actually looking like a Valknut symbol.

What are you actually disagreeing about?

That the pattern looks like Valknuts?

That Valknuts are (sadly) associated with far right extremists?

Or you’re just disagreeing about my wonderment as to whether the club have received any negative responses?

Not much else to disagree about in the OP is there…?

Guthrum obviously loves it as he is the Viking King of East Anglia.

It very much looks like the Norse Valknut, which symbolises death/sacrifice/afterlife but is probably best known for its reappropriation by the Nazis and numerous other right wing organisations (possibly because the root origination is from Germanic tribes).

The club just describe it as a “stand out triangle pattern” but it has to be a salute to the Valknut, especially when you include other kit design factors like the Viking boat icon on rear of shirt and the spelling out of ‘YORK’ in runes on the home shirt.

I respect them for acknowledging their strong Viking connections (we could do the same with Viking, Angles/Anglo-Saxon heritage etc when all this Sheeran stuff blows over) but is this particular sigil a bit too much? Or is it just fancy triangle patterns?

For anyone who didn’t know…

Ipswich Town may be able to leverage Brighton & Hove Albion's player recruitment system, specifically their use of Jamestown Analytics, following Ipswich's promotion to the Premier League.

Brighton's system, developed by owner Tony Bloom, utilizes data to identify potential signings and has been a key factor in their success.

While Ipswich previously used Jamestown Analytics when they were in the Championship, a new arrangement is needed now that they are Premier League rivals.

Here's a more detailed breakdown…

Brighton's Data-Driven Approach:
Brighton has gained a reputation for successful player recruitment, largely attributed to their use of data analysis through Jamestown Analytics.

Jamestown Analytics:
This data firm, an offshoot of Starlizard (a betting and data company), is closely tied to Brighton's owner Tony Bloom.

Ipswich's Previous Use:
Ipswich previously utilized Jamestown Analytics during their time in the Championship.

Premier League Rivalry:
As Ipswich has been promoted to the Premier League, the previous arrangement with Jamestown Analytics has likely ended due to exclusivity agreements.

Potential New Arrangement:
With Brighton and Ipswich now in the same league, a new agreement might be possible, allowing Ipswich to potentially benefit from Brighton's data-driven recruitment methods.

McKenna's Perspective:
Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna has stated that the club is developing its own data system for recruitment and acknowledges the importance of data in player acquisition.

25/26:
Now that Ipswich Town have returned to The Championship, full use of Jamestown Analytics may have been relicensed to work alongside Ipswich’s own new database.

Burnley is a strange one, really.

Maybe he’ll be like Tuanzebe and be content with spending most of the season on the bench rather than being a 1st team regular.

Am sure Johnson will make that position his own this season.

Regular first team games will show him to be the player West Ham offered a longterm contract to.

Yes. It’s good. A classy mickey take on the overblown new kit release explosions.

We’ve done a similar thing with a lo-fi high school media project shot on an Iphone 6.
