IMO, he shuffled the pack slightly, got a couple of injuries to cover and set out a team to cope with Shrewsbury's tactic's and beat them ... he seems to be very thorough in how the opposition is set out and how they play ... we will see ??? |

Not being able to get a cheap return flight to Spain i had to make do with watching the game on tv .... I never saw a long ball game tonight as suggested by a few ..I did see a team in Red who had much quicker speed of thought on the ball and instant control which comes from playing in the Premier League in a 350m pound team. I did see both our full backs and wingers in advanced positions as often as they could ... Long clearances from defences to clear the danger in the Championship is the norm ...perhaps not so in the Prem .... Im amazed that 2 people can watch the same game and see a different game. |

Lots of comments of " not being at their best " , but i disagree. The formation that Preston set out was a difficult system to break down and i cant think we have played a team with a system like this for some time . 3-4-2-1 means you can FIVE across the back when defending and still have men in midfield..... Attacking, you can end up with 5 bombing forward and still have 2 guarding the midfield ... We were a bit overwhelmed with bodies in our half of the pitch in the first half and IMO, we did well to hold it at 1-1..... What ever MM did at half time rectified the problem as we appeared in shooting positions far more ( first half stats were 1 shot , 1 goal ).... If we can come through tough games like this with 3 points ( not forgetting key personal missing or playing out of position ) then i think we actually have a real chance of a top 2 spot ....Long way to go yet though. |

It will be interesting how MM sets his team out to deal with Bournemouth`s ultra attacking policy..... I've gone back through the stats and it appears that they have a * shoot on sight * policy... but when you boil it down it appears that they dont seem to get that more shots on target than anyone else. ... 20 plus shots but perhaps 5 or 6 on target seems normal for them ...... BUT ....surprise, surprise apart from the odd game thats OUR stats as well ??? Look at it this way ..If we stop them scoring it will damn good as only 3 teams have done it this season .....0 will be a point ..... and i think thats VERY possible... we MUST score first . |
