Anybody watching Chaplin's 'booting the ball into the crowd' from that angle can clearly see he was intending to kick it into the net in celebration and it went sloightly on the huh!
It also didnt look that hard of a kick tbh. Not saying it couldn't have, or didnt hurt someone, but its funny how so many different people seem to have been hit in the face. So far I've read a man, an elderly person and a 13 year old kid.
Most town fans are aware that Chaplin is the last person who would do something like that deliberately.
