Yes I thought it was only 60 tickets but someone mentioned 5% and I got confused. Even got my calculator out cause I knew 60 wasnt 5% of 3K π€¦π½ I was sure that the group ballot must be if one got a ticket the others would automatically get one too. Otherwise that would just be outright mean and we'd never stand a chance! π |

These are all reasonable suggestions that any fan with access to the powers that are at ITFC should certainly put forward. Even if someone didn't get in as they had no match day proof, it's still prevented someone else in a lower tier getting the ticket (at least in the early days of such a scheme) Correct me if I'm wrong, but I assume that the away point they would get from that game would then be struck off their tally if the ID didn't match? If not, there is no deterrent and it wouldn't change point hoarding. And there would be the occasional legit reason of someone falling ill or something after the return ticket/refund deadline and therefore passing the ticket to a friend. |

Yes, 5% may seem a fair amount but when you look at it in numbers even in the top capacity, 5% of 3000 is actually only 150 tickets. Also as my dad and son need to be accompanied, we have to apply as a group. My impression was that if you apply as a group and one of you get drawn out of the ballot, then the rest of the group go too but have been informed that might not be right and all three of us would have to be drawn out or none of us go?? I may be wrong, but if this is the case, then if you apply as a group you are even less likely to get a ballot ticket. [Post edited 22 Aug 2024 16:34]

Dont get me wrong, I don't disagree with the priority system but it only rewards those with loads of points in the previous 2 seasons, not for long time service. And yes, I know whatever solution there is will not fit every fan. It's not even a race though yet for us. Hasn't got that far! Lol I'm just so disappointed for my dad, more than anything. He and I have been all over the country with Ipswich, for years, with our 5 games a season, to all the 'lower' clubs too. He is in his 70s now and was SO excited he might finally get to Man City and Liverpool this year, the only two 'big club' grounds he has left to visit, before he pegs it (his words, not mine! π) It sold out the day before my priority. (He has 15 points but I have 14 due to an illness last year, and this season he wouldn't be able to go on his own). Yep, the novelty could wear off, but don't want us to get hammered either! Let's hope we'll get enough points this season, stay up, and he doesn't 'peg it' so he gets another chance next year π€£ |

This would be a good solution to be able to accumulate needed points and would reward those who have long term CONSISTENT loyalty. It is such a shame. We have never missed out on our 5 away games we are reasonably able to do with our circumstances, not ever in 30+ years until now. Despite our 30+ years of long term consistent loyalty we technically could, as you say, be frozen out in future seasons due to, dare I say it, to a younger, fitter and richer generation! (I know not all of these 'top pointers' are 2-3 season glory hunters π but there are definitely some in there!) |

As I said in another post, we have had season tickets, memberships and have consistently have gone to 4 - 5 games per season for the past 30+ years. Difference between someone having 10 points (for technically just a membership this year and last year) and 14 points (with 4 away games points) is extremely harsh. My dad is inadvertently prioritied out now too. He could have technically had a chance of a ticket as he has 15 points. But this season cannot go on his own due his age and health and needs someone to accompany him. My son and I have 14 points (we had to return our tickets for a game last year due to illness) and would have been in 15+ with him π€¦π½ I feel for him as he's been going since the 1950s and the one taking me to football games week in week out since the late 70s! π’ [Post edited 22 Aug 2024 14:54]

We're stuck on 14 points and at this rate have no hope of increasing it, in which time the gap just gets bigger and bigger. I don't understand how we did not have any problem getting away tickets in the 10+ and 15+ band last year yet now even with almost double the allocation of 3k tickets are now being 'prioritied out' We have been season ticket holders, members and consistently attended 4-5 away games for the past 30 years. Not local games or just the big clubs either! According to some, apparently true loyal fans are only those who possess enough money and optimum health to go to every single away game. Whilst this does not apply to a vast amount of those in the higher point brackets, no one can say there are not glory hunters even in those with enough points... and we're now being pushed out of our LONG TERM, CONSISTENT loyalty and commitment to our beloved club by these so called fans joining in the last two years and accumulating the points. I totally understand they have allowed those who have attended more games to have priority but exactly how long have some of these been 'loyal' - 2/3 years? π€·π½ββοΈ Maybe some of them may back out and let us get to a lowly cup away game to allow us some points. Us loyal fans, we don't just go to the big games! [Post edited 22 Aug 2024 13:23]

Fools that we are, we left at 11.30am and are still 30 miles away at 4.15pm. The A1 between Peterborough and Newark is SLOW! Flooding across the carriageway and investigatve works following an accident. We fortunately have booked a hotel not far so don't have to drive back in this tonight, whether the game goes ahead or not. [Post edited 20 Oct 2023 16:14]

I don't even necessarily want the 'big' games. I prefer the games where I haven't been to the ground before. (I'm trying to cover the 92 club grounds as I go away!) I have already bought tickets for Sheff Weds home game on Fri 4th, on the way up, and bought tickets for Middlesbrough's home game on Sat 5th but obviously would love to finish my long football weekend at Sunderland on the Sunday! Fingers crossed there are still tickets left on Friday!π€ |

Agree but unfortunately I don't, and never will have, the circumstances for every away match although have consistently had a membership and attended 2-4 per season for many, many years. Its unreasonable to think I should have priority over someone who has attended all or loads of away games, but surely last years membership and the 3 aways I went to last season should count for more than someone joining for the first time (im sure there are a lot of new fair weather 'success' fans joining! π) as they said it was a 'fair' way to start off the new scheme. |
 | Forum Reply | Sunderland tickets membership priority. at 18:37 21 Jul 2023
That is actually a valid point! Those who had memberships and a few away games last season have actually gained no priority over new members this year. Whilst I agree with the priority system, I'm worried that the gap will just get bigger and bigger between the top priority and bottom if they are always sold out before the bottom point members get the opportunity to get tickets. Then our membership will be worthless as there aren't any extra perks anymore. We may never get to go to an away match again! |

Agreed, people wont change until a majority of people around them show them that behaviour is not acceptable. A group of fans around the 'chanter' should give them a bit of jip, show them up in public and that will soon shut them up!! That happened a couple of seasons ago, not anything racist or homophobic, but a guy kept going on and on overly negatively and moaning all the time about the players etc, game after game. Then someone just stood up, turned round and shouted 'will you just shut the f up and show some support', followed by cheers from all the fans around him. Never heard a peep ever again from him after that! Saying that whilst there are clearly sexist, racist, homophobic and other predjudiced chants that are definitely unacceptable, its a shame that we are all becoming so PC that we can't take the mickey and laugh at ourselves anymore. A 'She fell over' chant could be regarded as sexist but I don't go and cry 'like a little girl' in the corner about it! Its just banter Γ°ΕΈΛβ°Γ°ΕΈΛβ Stadium announcements? I think we can see what effect those have after the end of season pitch invasion.... |
