 | Blog Comment | Is The Town Job a Poisoned Chalice? at 10:44:22
Glad you've raised this, I've been thinking the same. What troubles me in the current set up is the lack of scrutiny. Without any fanfare, the club has gone from a traditional board structure to an owner with his own appointed advisors. This might not sound a big deal, but who is there to stand up to the owner and the CEO and say "you've got it wrong"? I fear nobody. A traditional board of directors provides a wide range of expertise, individual directors have responsibility to speak up and say when things need changing. Instead we have an owner and a CEO who have little football expertise and a board of advisors handpicked from Marcus Evans’ company, plus of course, whatever pearls of wisdom Harry Redknapp imparts on the golf course. I don't know what’s wrong, but I'm certain that this is not the right structure to fix it. |
 | News Comment | Venus Fancies Town Job at 18:33:07
Venus was a fantastic player here, and one of the best bits of transfer business the club ever did, remember we got him and money in exchange for Sedgely. No idea how good a manager he'd be, but I'd rather take a risk on him than Megson McCarthy etc |
 | News Comment | Burley Interested in Old Job at 18:26:52
Burley is a good manager, the only real blot on his record was Scotland. His club record is good apart from a tendency to fall out with the chairman. Although I'd love to see him back, I think the chances of a bust up are a lot higher than when he was here last. Heart says yes, head says no. |
 | News Comment | Clegg: Taking Flak Comes With the Territory at 09:08:58
Flak doesn't just go with the teritory. It goes with poor performance. Us fans might not understand the specifics of how the club operates, but we can see the effect. All these buzz phrases like "learning curve" and "lessons learnt" translated into everyday language say " I haven't got a clue" Clegg out. |
 | News Comment | Clegg: Tipping Point Was Reached at 17:21:18
What a load of management speak twaddle Mr Clegg. If this is a results based business as you put it, how should we judge you? Both your managerial appointments had to be sacked, your interventions in player transfers have been counterproductive, attendances are their lowest for years, and we're bottom of the table. If you really do accept some of the responsibility then you should resign too. |
 | News Comment | Town Topic: Who Next for Town? at 13:51:28
Steve Lomas, Young and talented manager who is getting great results at St Johnstone without spending big bucks |
 | News Comment | Town Confirm Jewell's Exit at 13:26:36
A third bad appointment would be catastrophic. Please not Mick McCarthy or Gary Megson |
 | News Comment | Jewell to Speak to Evans In Morning at 11:18:14
This isn't a survivable position for Jewell, its surely just a matter of timing as to when he goes. This morning this afternoon , next Saturday it doesn't really matter. But I agree the real question now is what happens to Clegg. It's telling that he has kept quiet and Jewell has made no mention of him. He appears to be having no say in decisions. In which case what is the point of him? He appears to have added nothing in his tenure at the club apart from an obstacle to getting things done. Things won't improve at this club until he is dealt with too |
 | News Comment | Jewell: Long-Term Approach Not Abandoned at 10:26:00
The current approach seems to be. We've got a plan, but it's not working, so we'll make it up for a while and hope something shows up, but don't worry, if that starts working we'll abandon that too and go back to the original plan that didn't work. |
 | News Comment | Clegg: Debt Size No Huge Concern at 13:52:44
Nothing to worry about? We're overspending and underperforming. I can see just four scenarios. Only one of which is good. 1.Performance magically improves. We get promoted, ME waives his option to get his money back, invests in new players . We stay up . Life is sweet. 2. Performance magically improves. We get promoted. ME demands his money back, so no money for new players. ME sells up. We get relegated. 3. We fail to get promoted debt piles up, ME cuts his loses and sells. We have to cut wage bill drastically to stay solvent. 4. We carry on like this with ME piling in money with no improvement in our league position, ME's debt piles up until Football league regulates. We have to cut wage bill drastically to stay solvent. |
 | News Comment | Clegg Set to Meet With IBC Chief Executive at 13:01:03
Doesn't sound like ITFC have got much of a leg to stand on. Best hope is for ITFC to counter offer & pay the back rent as a down payment for buying the ground. |
 | News Comment | Jewell: I Could Have Subbed Any of Midfield at 13:15:13
If it's a maxim that you don't change a winning team, then it follows you do change a loosing one. So no complaints about the line-up, even if it didn't work. More worrying is the amount of players who are "off-colour" it's not just Scotland. They don't look jaded to me they look frightened. Fear of loosing, fear of being blamed, fear of looking like a load of washed up overpaid has-beens. I don't know what it is. But the dressing room motivational speeches aren't working. |
