All pretty clear, but people seem to be getting confused between a buy-back clause, and a matching rights clause. Villa had a buy-back clause in JP's contract which would have allowed them to buy him back for a pre-arranged fee of £15m IF Hull were promoted to the Premier League. Villa also apparently have a matching rights clause, which forces Hull to make them aware of any bids they receive for JP, which Villa can then match should they choose to do so; can't find any information related to that clause which states they only have that right if Hull are in the same division as Villa...
There is also the 30% sell-on clause, which would mean that if we've bid £18m for JP and Villa match that, they would only have to pay £12.6m for JP (Villa would be due 30% of £18m from the sell on clause)
It all smells of Villa hoping to persuade a player they don't particularly want "on the cheap", with a view to sell on at a later date for a profit; given that JP wasn't given much of a chance first time around at Villa hopefully he'll see through that. |

To be fair, Omari had a full season with us - huge improvement in his performances during the second half of the season. Jezza and Travis joined in the winter window, so were just getting up to speed as the season was ending. I would have no problem with either of them coming back to us, but I think we need through the door with a bit of Prem experience. |

We've not just put together a squad of outstanding players, but of outstanding human beings and Dominic Ball is a shining example of that.

Would have loved him to have been at the club a few years earlier; one legacy he's left at the club is the ridiculous way he can spin out with the ball in tight areas...don't think it's a coincidence that Broadhead, Hutchinson and Sarmiento have improved that part of their game this season :^D
Hopefully stay on in some capacity!

Don't know why, but my hay fever started playing up reading all those :^D
Particularly bad watching the video from the hotel run by McKenna's family, and then reading the congrats from Ian Wright; always struck me as someone both as a player and a pundit who genuinely understands what a football club means to a fan, and also someone who came up through the lower leagues and had to work hard at his game to improve - his appreciation of the journey some of our players are making means a lot, as he's lived it himself... |

We had 26 squad players, so one player had to be moved on...we have Morsy, Luongo, Taylor, Travis, Ball, Humphreys for centre mid, and I very much doubt Evans is already back to the fitness levels required to play at the intensity that we do; was out of contract in the summer anyway, so made sense for all parties to give him a chance to find a club now, rather than wait until then. |
