Tokyo/Osaka experts

Tokyo is amazing, there is plenty to do there. You could probably see the major sites in a few days if you don't mind being busy! Kamakura is a really good day trip from Tokyo, but if you have limited time then I would spend it in Tokyo itself.

From Osaka you can easily do day trips to Kyoto, Nara, Kobe, Himeji (Kyoto and Himeji Castle are must see's in my opinion!). If you don't mind an early start and a long day, then Hiroshima is just about doable from Osaka.

Looked hard at the satnav!

It looked like 'Hendon' and 'North Circular Road' were on there, which definitely helped.

And yes, I am aware that I need to get out more!

I might be wrong here, but I thought you weren't allowed to have unreserved seating with safe standing? From what I understood you need to have a designated 'seat' in a safe standing terrace.
