I go with you Baxter. Would rather see him stay, but if we have hopes of getting back to the Prem, then we have to be better than we were last time around. That means replacing what we have with players who are at a higher level now, or have (a higher headroom and) the capacity to get better over the course of a season (or two) so that we can actually be competitive in the Prem. |
 | News Comment | McKenna: One or Two Little Issues, No Break For Szmodics, Cajuste and Akpom Training at 15:51:19
PNE forum comments: This is a big test, they have started the season with 2 draws but they should be bouncing straight back up to the big league. I haven't been hugely impressed with what I’ve seen of them... There is a strong rumour Szmodic has a hairline arm fracture... If Szmodics is playing, I want a centre back going maximum aggression on him. They're definitely beatable, but a draw wouldn't be bad. A point would represent a very positive start to the season I always thought we had a reasonable chance of beating one of Leicester or Ipswich A much tougher game than Leicester I feel. Signing an injured player (Akpom)? What club would be stupid enough to do that?! Another team that will be looking to attack us, so should play well into the hands of Small/Osmajic again. And leaving the best for last, and an absolute clincher... But they have that singer fella….. |

Doesn't need the cash but does need to do everything possible to support his son's career and if that means 30 minutes game time here and there and some cup competitions then surely it's a win/win. Although not a formal coaching role that still leaves lots of room for informal coaching, reviewing games, consulting... Great move I reckon. |
 | News Comment | Veteran Ex-England International Young 'Likely' to Join Town at 12:43:42
Excellent appointment. We're moving towards a younger squad with longevity over multiple seasons (read: resale value). Experience like his doesn't normally come cheap (although salary likely to be significant), but more important is what he can do for our defence. |
 | News Comment | Ipswich Town 1-3 West Ham United - Match Report at 19:51:12
ArnieM. You are spot on, they never expected a double promotion. It was indeed a free hit and because they had not planned around equipping themselves for the Prem, in the main they bought young and/or Brit players that would return dividends when sold. The injection of funds has been very welcome, as has the experience gained. This has NOT been an unsuccessful season for these reasons. |
 | News Comment | McKenna: Delap Staying at Town a Possibility at 16:14:25
Not too surprised by this. He wants to play football week in week out and not sit on a bench of one of the top clubs, and frankly he is unproven at the highest level and can improve. He could have an absolutely storming season in the Champ and his value continue to rise, all whilst enjoying the ride in Suffolk. |
 | News Comment | McKenna Commits Future to Town at 15:46:29
I don't believe there was any real expectation to get promoted to the Prem when they did, but of course we'd take it and be grateful. I believe McK's mega package was always based on him being here next season (and maybe another) to finish the project and get us into AND established in the Prem. His choice of young British players is strategic, some not yet ready for the Premiership need a season or two in the Champ' and their value (like Delap, although he is an outlier) will skyrocket with the funds helping the club to grow. |

Great player badly missed and wanting to give something back to the community. A class act all round. That's the type of foundation I want my football club to be built on |
 | News Comment | Town Agree Fee For West Brom Keeper at 12:02:06
Glad to see this, but can't help feeling the only thing preventing Muric from excelling for a club is gaining some confidence. As McK has proven his man management skills already, it is now unlikely to happen at Town and it is regrettable that it must be somewhere else. Sometimes regardless of all the appraisals, testing and gut feel, the fit is just not right and players should find a more natural home. I wish him all the best wherever he lands. |

IP9, you had better contact the club sharpish and tell them McK has made a mistake here and see if the deal can be cancelled |
