 | News Comment | Sheffield United Eyeing Woolfenden at 10:25:54
Arnie, you've talked down Woolfie for years. It comes across as personal, like a ditched lover. McKenna rates him. He played all the time in the two promotion seasons and is still in and around the team today, in a similar way to many others from the promotion team. McKenna may not see him as the future. Fair enough. And players move on. But he is still willing to play him the last 3 games so of course he still rates him! You get slammed because you are not balanced and don't seem to understand being a defender is not all about tackles and heading and diving in. There are other ways to play, which is how Woolfie plays. I'd be sad to see him go. |
 | News Comment | Dozzell Joins Portsmouth at 09:49:44
Recovered from the most horrendous injury and already has multiple seasons of Championship and League 1 football under his belt. Not a bad career if it ended now! Had a number of good games last season but managerial changes at both QPR and then Birmingham led to changes in styles of play and him falling out of favour. Maybe being a 'free agent' and getting a fresh start will help push his effort levels higher? Really hope he kicks on this year! |

Doctor E and Blueboy... I hope you never come up and against impossible opposition in a part of your life, try hard but are well beaten and then are insulted for it. In a world where you can be anything, be kind. |
 | Blog Comment | Where We Might Be Without Asset Stripping at 21:04:00
I think of it differently. We were lucky in the 70s and early 80s that 1) Clubs were all powerful, pre Bosman, not players, and 2) money in football wasn't out of control. It meant players couldn't demand moves easily if it was well run, leaving to a bigger club didn't mean becoming a millionaire overnight, and they couldn't leave for nothing. So a great manager could build a team, keep the spine for years, add to it cleverly, develop youths. We had a truly great manager and the rest is history. Even as a small club it was possible: and it wasn't just us, it happened at many clubs (Derby, Nottm Forest, Villa, Everton to an extent). Not now, and not for at least the last 10 years. Money dominates totally. The Big Teams overpower all financially. Players have total power of movement, even averagely good ones. You can "have a go" and lots of clubs with very rich owners do. Evans did for a bit, not for long though. It looks fun, certainly from where we sit, but it's VERY expensive. And one good season sees all your best players poached. You can't build. It's very risky, financially. And ironically success (promotion) comes with a big price. Massive income increases of course but an equally large increase in costs to try to compete. All Premier League clubs bar the top 6 live in utter fear of relegation. Our history was amazing. But our future, like all clubs bar the Big 6, is likely to be spent chasing an impossible dream unless the authorities shift where the power lies. |

Thoroughly depressing. We have 3 great young players, our own, who played well against West Ham. None now selected. How will they feel? How will our other youngsters feel? |
 | News Comment | Hurst: Adeyemi Will Have to Grit his Teeth and Get on With It at 17:48:44
Am very worried Hurst is way out of his depth, with all his "threats here, threats there". He should keep all these thoughts and conversations to himself. Current players won't like it, nor potential players he wants to bring in. He's playing to the fans nicely, but comes across as one dimensional and far too public in how he's dealing with individuals. |

I like that we are rebuilding. It is clearly right to do so and shows ambition. More old / injury plagued players out please, bring in the youngsters. |
 | News Comment | Moore Set for £750,000 Barnsley Switch at 09:45:57
Wow. So we pretty much got Garner and Waghorn fully financed by an (unproven) Moore! Let's now go get some other hidden gems like Garner and Waghorn and improve the side again (fingers fully crossed) |
 | News Comment | Bishop Out for the Rest of the Season at 17:32:26
Agree that it seems we have loads of injured players but looking around, lots of other clubs have multiple injuries, too. I guess I t's why squads are so big these days, especially in midfield. And.. we have a lot of younger players whose bodies are still developing which I guess has extra risk attached. Plus, were some of our signings riskier (and cheaper?) due to injuries in the past? I dont know but I'd be amazed if it was anything to do with how they are trained, clubs are all bound to use latest science here. It will be behind squad rotation though - we desparately need no others. |
 | News Comment | McCarthy: Kieffer Will Be Coming Back - Unless Someone Offers a Bonkers Deal at 15:04:13
Looks like an impressive purchase. The worst that can happen is we make a big profit if we sell; or we have a striker "in reserve" who is in form who we can bring back if we want to. What's not to like here? There is so much people could moan about - how can you possibly moan at this is beyond me! |
 | News Comment | Moore Takes Total to 12 Goals As McDonnell Also Nets at 22:05:03
How about Moore's loan is a success, Folami is developing nicely and McDonnell is getting g great experience...? Seriously, how anyone can moan at giving young players experience that might make them stronger candidates to be in the first team in the future is beyond me. When fans moan at this they make it obvious they just want to moan. Pathetic. |
 | News Comment | Benyu Reportedly Attracting Interest at 11:29:47
What are the facts (as we know them). Had a bad attitude, obviously was not good enough yet for Championship, played well in the Conference, had fallen out with current manager. This is all agent talk. |
 | News Comment | Bishop Doing Extra Work as He Looks to Win Back First-Team Place at 20:09:15
so cat, you don't like MM. Fair enough. And the Sears, Douglas, Chambers examples are totally on the ball But how can state MM doesn't like/rate Bishop? He played him throughout 2014/5, hasn't rushed him back, states he rates him, is now trying to give a bit of an extra carrot/stick through the media to get him going. No bad thing surely? |
