On this, Phil points out that the last time Sam Morsy missed a game through injury was Fleetwood away on the last game of our last L1 season. Harry Clarke got sent off in that one too (a lot less controversially, I think). And wasn’t that our last red card? Don’t remember one last season.
Agreed. This loan will be doing him the world of good. However, if he’d have stuck around this season, he’d have probably got some minutes today. And you know he wouldn’t have let us down one bit.
Positive news from League One, at least. Goal and assist for Cam Humphreys in a 3-0 win today. Wycombe second, splitting ‘massive’ Birmingham, and ‘mighty Wrexham. Nice one, Cam.
Spoke to a WHU supporting colleague about Johnson earlier. He was really disappointed that he was leaving. Rates him very highly and expects him to do well with us.
This is where I am on the subject. Incohesive is exactly right.
I like Southgate - he’s a decent bloke and at previous tournaments he’s had players playing without the fear that I associate with England teams at previous tournaments. Not this time though. I don’t remember 1992 Euros that well, but England so far have reminded me of World Cups 2006 under Sven and 2014 under Roy. Absolutely feeble.
This video is really good (from the same guy who explained how well-equipped Town are for the PL a few weeks ago):
And yes, Kieran would have these players doing incredible things.
Pickford is good with his feet though. That he’s been hoofing it long so much in the first two games of this tournament is another indication of the dysfunction in the team.Vas wouldn’t have had anyone to pass to either. A really vocal keeper like Pickford could really help Town, you’re right. Vas is pretty quiet and Walton too, from memory. Another category for the data dashboard.
No doubt! And while we’re talking round pegs in round holes, I’d have Morsy ahead of TAA in midfield too. I wouldn’t question the quality of the other nine England starters, yet can’t help thinking we’d be pretty comfortable against them.
Not counting any Kieffer Moore chickens quite yet, and well aware that McKenna is unlikely to ever go with two up front, but can you imagine coming up against Moore and Al-Hamadi? Not many CB pairings in the Championship would enjoy a physical battle against those two specimens.
I saw Jamie Clapham at Sainsburys in Solihull after he'd signed for Birmingham. He looked like he was buying a lottery ticket, but he can't have been can he? Do top flight footballers do the lottery?
