Hi,
A big thank you to everyone who completed my questionnaire and commented on this forum. I'm very grateful.
My first questionnaire followed the arrests of 2 Wolves fans at Brighton in 2019. The paper associated with that data will be published in March and can be accessed here (please note that the $15 cost has got absolutely nothing to do with me, it is the journal's fee)...

I am now writing a paper on some of the data from the questionnaire that you contributed to. I expect this to be published in late 2024.

To all those who have completed my questionnaire on the other thread...
An enormous thank you. Over 300 Town fans replied, by far the biggest response I have had from any fan base.
Later this year, my son and I are due to visit Ipswich on our goal of joining the '92 Club' - I'm looking forward to visiting a ground that I haven't been to for 30 years (vs Wolves in the cup). Hoping you have a great season.

Correct. It is not a prerequisite, but I do have 20 years in industry as well. |

Agreed. It will be extended to include other areas. I am restricted by the number of replies per questionnaire. The 2nd questionnaire will ask exactly the same questions to fans of other clubs. Target is now 500 responses. Thank you for your time, much appreciated. |

Dear Ipswich Town supporters,
I’m a Wolves fan — coming in peace and hoping you can help me out…
But before I continue, let me congratulate you on an amazing season. I’m sure the Canaries are a tad nervous!
I’m a senior Lecturer at Birmingham City University, writing academic papers as part of my PhD portfolio (Koln University). My research has a focus on the language used by football fans at games — for some people it’s ‘banter’ and for others, it has become a ‘hate crime’. It is a complex, emotive issue.
I want to find out what you think of the language used — I want you to be honest.
The questionnaire is entirely voluntary and completely anonymous. I will only use the data I obtain for academic papers and once complete I will share the data with you on this forum. I have ethical approval granted from Koln University and approval from your administrator for this forum.
I will be comparing your answers with those from supporters of Arsenal, Watford, Wolves, Plymouth and Newcastle.
