 | News Comment | McKenna: Philogene Really Keen to Come to Town at 14:40:45
Sounding promising. I have found some of the comments on this forum and elsewhere surprising, questioning his commitment etc. I imagine these things are complicated with many parties involved all of whom have their own interests and needs and therefore a lot of inter-dependencies. You just have to look at what can happen when buying a house, which is obviously a lot less money than buying a top-end footballer. On the outside this stuff looks like it is quite simple, but on the inside I imagine it is quite complex. Lets not jump to conclusions about players intentions when we only know a bit of the story |
 | News Comment | BBC Radio Suffolk Signs New Commentary Deal at 14:56:35
This is bitter sweet news. I really love the BBC Suffolk commentary, and Brennar is fantastic, but as someone who lives out of the area it is impossible to hear them, and we are stuck with the fan commentary that the club provide. Such a waste when you have got professional coverage. One of the few big mistakes that the club have made in recent times |
 | News Comment | Dyer: I Agree With Tyrone, Johnson and Patel Hypocrites at 15:11:09
Great comments by Kieron Dyer. The reaction by the England players has been really humbling to see. They are only young and speak with such dignity and understanding - I am really proud of the way that they have reacted |
 | Blog Comment | One of the Strongest Squads? at 15:20:01
I agree with SouperJim, these are performance figures and it is not surprising that the overall score matches the league table. This does not rank the quality of the players which individually should be better than their current performance |
 | News Comment | Salary Cap Scrapped at 17:59:36
Football is totally unstainable and this surely just adds to the problem. All clubs, except a few at the very top are reliant on a rich benefactor and if they decide to pull out, then the club will go bust. For the good of football something major needs to change |
 | News Comment | Warnock Linked Again But No Contact With Town at 19:38:06
This season has gone - we won't go up or down, so it is about looking to the future. Why make the change? I think the core of the issue is about the culture of the club. If you look back over the last few years one of the core issues is that things are very comfortable. Stuart Watson made some very good points here https://www.eadt.co.uk/sport/the-verdict-blackpool-2-ipswich-town-1-1-6539568 basically saying that things are too comfortable - "David McGoldrick, reflecting on his final few years under Mick McCarthy's management at Portman Road after joining Sheffield United, said: "I maybe got a bit too comfortable at Ipswich, although I loved my time there. But we were mid-table every week and there was no big expectations to go out there and win every game." This is what Hurst tried to fix, but did it in a bad way. My point is that bringing in someone like Warnock could do a key role, shake the club up a bit, set some standards and expectations and begin to shape the culture of the club. A manager like Warnock can do this in a short-term, knowing that they will not have to see the players the next season, so they don't need to have to worry about upsetting people. Doing this could set things up for the next season helping a new manager with the long-term transition |
 | News Comment | Vincent-Young Bid Accepted Report at 11:43:06
For the record I believe if we had signed him last season when he was out of contract we would have had to pay compensation because of his age, so he would not have been free |
 | News Comment | Burton Albion 0-1 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 18:06:02
First game I have been to for a while. Norwood really looks a handful, if we can retain and keep fit Judge and Huws there is some attacking potential there. Rowe looked good and El Mizouni has something about him. Defence looks worrying at times. Akins should have scored and the mix up with Holy at the end could have been very embarrassing. Kenlock was mixed. I was in the family end for Burton and in the second half was right near him, he often looked half a yard behind and was often knocked off the ball. Wilson looked quite solid I thought. Good result, let's hope they grow in confidence from this |
 | News Comment | Garner Move Set to Be Completed This Week at 14:34:04
@PortmanTerrorist very good point about the 5 point plan. Phil has there been any word from the club about how this fits into the strategic direction the club said that they are going in? Seems very odd to announce a strategy and then the first major piece of investment does not fit this strategy |
 | News Comment | BBC Radio Suffolk Agree New Commentary Deal at 14:07:41
This is great news - as others have said that season when it was on Heart was terrible. I think the commentary and general coverage is great. As someone that does not live in the area my main contact is the commentary online and this website. If only the website worked better. It is now improving particularly on smartphones. Overall great news |
 | News Comment | Academy Duo Against Rooney Rule at 10:27:17
pelles321 - I totally agree with you. There are two types of discrimination direct, which occurs when people decide on the basis of colour consciously, and indirect, which is often either unconscious or can be built in to the way the job is advertised (i.e. 10 years minimum experience excludes younger people who might be able to do the job). There is also a wider societal issue. If, as Titus Bramble says, he did not know any black players wanting to go into coaching then the problem might be to do with the wider culture within football, the lack of role-models etc. There clearly is a problem, the figures quoted in the article are stark and I think undeniable. The question is how to address it. Quotes do work as a short-term fix (look at Norway with women or boards of their large companies). This can change the wider culture which in the long-term is the aim (then the quota can go. Would be interested to see what other ideas there are instead of quotas |
 | News Comment | McCarthy: Much Better After Break at 22:42:21
Have to agree with most of the above points. We looked timid in the first half but where far stronger in the second. The left side with Kings and Henshall looked very promising and Bru looks good as well. I was also impressed with Tabb. However I did feel we were a little light upfront |
 | News Comment | Town Confirm Jewell's Exit at 14:21:28
Jewell must hate Ipswich vs Derby at home. It is the second time that he has been the manager in this fixture and been sacked straight after it! |
 | News Comment | Jewell: We Did Enough to Win at 19:32:21
Garv - you cannot carry the points through to next season so they are now irrelevant. However you can carry the experience and learning through to next season. Therefore learning and developing for next season is far more important than picking up meaningless points now. Why put players in who either we know all about or will not be playing here next season? |
 | News Comment | Trio Return to Starting Line-Up at Palace at 14:47:25
groovyASH - I'm not totally against PJ but I think these players need the opportunity to learn their craft and playing is important for that. If they have shockers and we got stuffed but they learnt from the experience then that would be worth it. |
