 | News Comment | Ipswich Town 1-1 Southampton - Match Report at 14:46:47
I don't think we are going to see another two high presses as good as Birmingham and Southampton this season. Once our patterns of play get a bit slicker then the press's of Derby, Oxford, Wrexham, Stoke etc are going to get more severely punished. We've also got the improved finishers (as in game finishers) on their way (Azon, Akpom and maybe Egeli). What a difference having those 3 on three on the bench would have made today. I thought Jack Clark was good today, certainly good enough to calm down the silly criticism he's had after two games not playing the role he's trained for in pre-season. Matusiwa looked a lot better, he's going to take time to adjust but it's going the right way. Hirst was a right handful and full of quality in his passing and link ups. Philogene was good, a few blind alleys but I think he a Leif need some games to sort that left side out. Smodics was excellent, didn't think he was going to stay on, he ran and ran. |

This would be better than Birmingham's 31 year old German striker they picked up for a bargain. This lad looks like he could be a bit special with some KMK attention. I think we need to see out August, settle in September and start kicking arse from October onwards. I'd imagine, even if this happens, it's not the end of the shopping from Town. |
 | News Comment | McKenna: We're Disappointed With How Hutchinson Exit's Been Played Out at 16:57:45
I think we should all be a bit calmer about the Omari thing. We shouldn't have been relying on him to beat Bromley in the first place. On top of that, in 12 months (he was on loan before that) he just earned us about £15m and we wouldn't have got to the premier League without him which gave us £100m to spend on him and Delap et al. As a club we are immensely stronger for those two years we got from a 19 (when he joined) year old. Let's not slowly turn into entitled Leicester or Southampton fans, these are fantastic and extraordinary times for our club and we need to enjoy them. We've already spent in excess of £30m at the start of a Championship season. That was probably a decade's worth of spending not long ago. |

 | News Comment | McKenna: Azón Deal Not Yet Complete at 16:45:37
So does he fit the profile that was in the press last year? He has played (Well, worked) under Cesc Fabregas who speaks English and has played in the UK. I'm not sure if he speaks fluent English but he is in the right age group. I have to say that I like some of those creative finishes on his highlights reel although I could get signed by Town if that was all the scouting that went into a signing! |
 | News Comment | McKenna: I'd Liked to Have Kept Broadhead at 16:34:04
I’ll be honest, I didn’t think ‘Tapping up’ was still against the rules but I’ve just looked and it clearly is. It’s not against any UK laws, just FA and FIFA rules but still significant. This could easily be a miss-speak by McKenna and the offer may have been to the club first. Also, if you think about it, almost every offer is made public (therefore informing the player of interest) before it’s accepted so that rule is largely ignored by pretty much every club. |
 | News Comment | Broadhead's Wrexham Move Confirmed at 18:40:54
Good luck Broady, hope you do great things, you did for us. So our front line looks like: Left : Clark/Philogene/Smodics 10: Chappers/Akpom/Smodics Right: Ogbene/Clark/(Burns) Top: Hirst/Azor/Akpom So That's 8 players (plus Burns to come back with Al Hamadi and Hutchinson to go out) in the front 4 positions and looking at it, I can get behind it. I'm not buying all the nonsense about Clark, he's going to come good. If we can put a four of that lot on the field every week and another four on the bench we will start to look like the the promotion side again. |
 | News Comment | Town Agree Akpom Terms With Ajax at 15:24:00
Agree with you Tractordamage - - Jens Cajuste question - why ask here? - Hope it doesn't signal Hirst is leaving - He's our only striker, why would he be leaving, we are probably looking to have 3 strikers by the end of the window. - 442 - WTF? - homesick, I wanna be in the PL kid - Grow up, the only way this deal gets done is if he thinks he has a better chance of premier league football with us than Birmingham. - Could start a bidding war -Both teams have agreed fees for him, that bit is done. - Only downside I can see is age - he's 29, that's peak age for strikers. Seriously we need to up the quality of comments here. |
 | News Comment | McKenna: Barbrook a Big Positive, Trio of Youngsters to Be Assessed Over the Next Month at 22:15:31
I understand the comments about keeping them and playing them and if this was 7 or 8 years ago I'd agree. The thing is we are favourites for the title this year and that's a really tough time to bring through youngsters and give them game time in the first team. This is a genuine question: Is Cameron Humphries better off being the fifth (As we will sign two good midfielders before the window closes) midfielder in midfield two here or starting 30 odd games at a team further down? He might work his way higher up the pecking order but we won't be signing mugs and he's not getting ahead of Taylor and Matusiwa. |
 | News Comment | McKenna: Townsend and Philogene Injuries Don't Look Great at 21:23:39
Pathetic comments, nothing can be done about the injuries and as for the digs at Muric, it’s disgraceful. Muric is a blue, we haven’t even started the season and some tw@ts are booing him at Colchester and digging him out on here. We’ve just closed a deal for Cajuste apparently and we already have good options in almost every part of the pitch. I would have died to be in this situation (with the talent and young, hungry players) four or five years ago. Grow up, support all the players, however they play and be proper fans. If not sod off. |
 | News Comment | French Club Eyeing Al-Hamadi at 01:25:10
In all honesty, if there were two stories with titles reading: 'French Club Toulouse to make loan offer for Cajuste' - Toulouse FC, who finished 10th in League 1 last season, are looking to offer 2.5 million euro to loan Cajuste with a 7 Million euro option to buy. and 'Saudi Pro-League Champions eying Al Hamadi Move' - Reigning Saudi Pro-League Champions Neom are poised to make move for Iraq international Ali Al Hamadi' How many of you would notice the difference? I could easily make one up... 'Addicks set to make six figure bid for Clark' - Charlton Athletic are preparing to make an offer for Harry Clark believed to be in the region of £250,000, the newly promoted outfit are understood to be in the market for a right back and Clark (in the last year of his contract) is thought to be on their radar.' |
 | News Comment | Blues Beaten By Hammers in Behind Closed Doors Friendlies at 06:54:41
You miserable bunch honestly. I could re-phrase all of your moaning about tickets and who ‘deserves’ them as - we don’t want any new or younger supporters, we just want the same people week in week out to get all the tickets. |
