I think these clauses can be a little misleading.
A mandatory purchase could mean that the buying club has the option to bid £4.9M and the selling club has to accept.
Or it could mean, the buying club has to purchase the player for £3.9M, and in that case the player and club will of had to agree personal terms prior to the loan.
Remember Sarmiento was a 2 year loan if we got promoted.... Obviously we had the option to opt out of that. Although I would sign him, just for the memories. |

When fit he is a decent player for the prem. Unfortunately he has struggled with fitness. Based on that, I guess we haven't offered him that great of a contract.
I would understand if he left, I would like to keep him, but equally the time it has taken, he is definitely leaving.

Clarke and Johnson at right back is an automatic pushing pair.
OShea and Greaves CB, with Wolfy as cover... Is a championship winning pair.
Davis is the best progressive left back in the league, and many say Townsend is as good.
Baggot as cover, I think is ok. But we may wish to pick up another well rounded CB to mix in and provide competition.

I think fully fit, in a decent side that can supply chances, he will dominate. But this ankle injury is concerning. It might be that he never gets fully back on it. |

If true, disappointing.
The only way you would get more than £30M less sell on, is if a club were desperate enough to sign him before Ipswich are officially relegated. This would give them a chance to agree terms before other clubs and the clause is not active, so we wouldn't be forced to accept £30.
That being said, it would make a lot of sense for Liam to reject that and wait, as he will get far better offers.
Shame we cant agree to loan him to anyone he wants in the prem for free, for a season and hope we get back.
As for the deal. Assuming we have paid £15M, sell for £30m and Pau city £6M. ..... £9M profit looks good a year a go, less good now. :-( |

I don't understand the negative comments around Davis, one of our best players last season.
The way we play isn't to have Clarke out wide, it is to have him inside and Davis push on with all stepping across. This helps us overload the CAM area outside the box.
It hasn't been tremendously obvious this season, but that's because the premier league is hard!
It seems one or two pundits have a dig without understanding how we play, and then everyone starts jumping on the bandwagon.
Having said all that, I think Townsend has done well when he has played and has a lovely cross. |

Ali has a great work ethic and energy, I am sure he contributes and pushes the squad in training. He hasn't had a real chance here, mostly because he has always had 2 decent forwards ahead of him. But this nonsense about him being a terrible signing or lazy winds me up. He was important in our promotion (created and scored goals winning us points). I am sure he would be a success in the championship if given games, and easily worth £1M.

Don't like the story that is being told that Villa are making a quick £7M or so. It's not, they had a 30% sell on that they would have received £6.5M from our £18M bid. Instead they signed him. Now they are selling, so they will get that £6.5 extra, plus £2M or whatever extra we are paying...... But they have lost out on signing bonus and wages.
They would have been better to just let us buy him |
