 | News Comment | Martin: We Don't React Well Enough to Disappointment at 13:18:09
This is a strange comment. Seems to be big problems there... “Not together enough and don’t have enough love for each other on the pitch or around the place, and we have to fix that before we fix anything on the pitch.” |
 | News Comment | Keane Delighted With Signing of Strike Duo at 18:00:46
retro - In think you're spot on. I suspect Keane sent him out to build up some confidence, on the basis that he would come back to us with the pressure off us and him. |
 | News Comment | Rosenior: Keane is Celebrity Big Brother Fan at 14:54:25
But this is such a surprise. I thought Keane was a thug, despised and feared by his players. Good work Liam. Good to hear you debunking some of the lazy myths of the Keane haters. Stay with us lad. Excellent player too. |
 | News Comment | Town Dump Arsenal Out of Youth Cup at 21:11:51
Great performance. Just on the way back on the Northern Line. We were excellent first half, with two clinical finishes. Clark looked very good before going off and Eastman and Ranieri were the pick after that. Good turnout from the Town massive too. Splendid stuff. |
 | News Comment | Fan\'s Shirt Challenge for Haiti at 16:13:28
really good idea. It would be a great fund-raiser if we all paired up with a fan of our most detested rival and agreed to swap shirts for one day - could be a matchday, could be a day at work... I know someone who I would LOVE to see wearing a Town shirt all day... |
 | News Comment | Priskin No to Charlton Loan at 11:47:37
Not sure about this. On one hand, loaning Priskin out and hoping he can get a few goals and build up his confidence sounds like a sensible move. It would also help Keane work out whether we have been sold a pup or not. If he can't turn it on at Charlton, we might as well cut our losses. On the other hand, if the problem is all about him settling into the team and the area, what good would it do to send him to south London? |
 | News Comment | Klug Sacked at 21:55:42
Not too much of a surprise. Keane appointed McPartland a couple of months ago. Obviously felt he needed to trim what was left. |
 | News Comment | Town Would Consider Ground Sponsorship at 11:11:53
It depends how this works. Sponsoring stands is nothing new, we were one of the first to do it I would imagine, when Pioneer paid for the west stand in the Eighties. And, given that our stadium doesn't have a name (Portman Road is, strictly speaking, our address), naming it the Greene King Stadium wouldn't change our address, which would continue to be Portman Road... |
 | News Comment | Keane: Town Not Looking For Out of Contract Keeper at 17:13:37
We have back Arran. It's not ideal, but it's make do and mend. If Murphy comes in next week to start his "pre-season", he'll get plenty of practice and will be able to hit the ground running in January. I suspect he'll do well, establish himself and we'll sell Wright in the summer, if we get a decent offer. |
 | News Comment | New TWTD T-Shirt Designs at 12:41:57
Richardspain - the club has launched a range of retro shirts. They have a pin-stripe one from the Eighties - although with two stripes along the arms, rather than the Adidas three stripes. Decent quality too... |
 | News Comment | Wright Set for Long Absence at 15:08:48
Just as well we already have Murphy lined up for January. A prudent piece of work by RK, I would say. And Arran will also have the incentive of playing for first place too. |
 | News Comment | McParland Joins Coaching Staff at 11:10:10
Also, very well travelled with a good knowledge of the Scottish and lower leagues, I would reckon. The issue with Keane only signing players he knows or recommended by those he trusts will be eased by this, as McParland will have a lot of knowledge of other players. He came out of the whole Notts County farce very well too, with a lot of credit. He seems to be a widely respected and admired fella. For me, this looks like the most significant signing since Keane joined. |
 | News Comment | McParland Joins Coaching Staff at 11:40:09
Interestingly, I was reading the Mr John book about the Cobbold's last night. Back in 1983, Bobby Robson left for the England job, chairman John Cobbold passed away and Mel Henderson (Town's established public relations guru) was kicked out by John's brother Patrick - clearly there was no love lost between Patrick and Mel. It was portrayed as very much the end of an era, with Patrick's approach very different to that of his brother. THAT was when our club changed. Not when Marcus Evans took over. |
 | News Comment | McParland Joins Coaching Staff at 13:24:13
Why people get so wound up by such a statement of fact is a little beyond me. Good blog post, which certainly underlines why so many fans are so miserable at the moment. I would be interested to see what the overall graph looks like - how many points we were getting on average in the Nineties and early Noughties. My instinct is was probably twice we are getting right now. "A gift shop" is spot on... |
 | News Comment | Keane: Finishing Let Us Down at 00:34:20
I was at the match, just back home. We were robbed. I worried after Saturdays match that we had no passion or fight - we had both tonight and should have won. Rosenior, Edwards, leadbitter, Walters, wright, Pabs, smith and McAuley were all excellent. We should be proud tonight. But the lack of a win is troubling the players now too. They were distraught after the equalised - rosenior threw his shirt into the crowd. But two wins in the next two matches are essential. |
