Feels like the first game where the pressure is on us to do something. Don't win, and our season starts to look difficult. Win, and we potentially have lift off. |

In terms of homegrown players - Josh Carson. Could never fathom why he didn't go on a forge a top level career. Overseas signings - Gus Uhlenbeek. His runs down the right wing from full back were a joy to behold. Over the past 10 years - Jonny Wiliams, if we could have signed him and kept him fit, he would have become a club legend. |

Yes. A striker is an absolute priority. If Hirst picked up an injury we would be boogered. Who we could go for is another matter. There aren't loads of easily signable options out there. Every team is looking for an effective striker, who can lead the line, create chances and take them when called upon. They do not come cheap. |

I'm not really bothered about how it looks, to be honest. Fulham have been in the Prem for 3 of the last 5 years, they will have decent quality in all positions, first XI and reserve. We have spent the past several seasons in Lge 1. It was always going to be tough. How 3-1 "looks" isn't important. The romantic in me would have loved us to give ourselves a better chance of a big night, that's all. (While the pragmatist does recognise that the last thing we need is to add an away trip to Everton to the 14 days in December which already include games vs Watford, Norwich, Leeds and Leicester) |

We did learn a few things last night - Ladapo has gone, Walton needs some serious ganetime to get match ready, Tuanzebe could be decent with more game time, Baggott is ready to step up when needed. Other than that it was a useful close season-style run-out for the rest. |

It's nuanced, isn't it. As I said, I see that we might well be happy to go out. That's a legitimate view to have. But viewing this as an opportunity to test or players against Prem opposition and then fielding second string players or those coming back from injury, seems counter-intuitive to me. I didn't see McKenna say we weren't that bothered about going through, or suchlike. If he did say something like that, then fine. Personally, if we DID want to go through, I think he misjudged by making too many changes. Starting with Hirst, Hutchinson or Broadhead would have given us a chance to compete better and maybe go through. Anyway, no biggie, tbh. |

I share the sentiment, maybe not quite as strongly, but... It was clear in the last 15-20 mins that starting with Hirst, Omari, Broadhead, maybe one or two other young players would have given us more energy up the pitch and given us more chance. I think it was 78 mins before we had a corner, but someone may want to correct that. We certainly didn't have many. And McKenna saying it was good for our players to test themselves against Prem opposition - but the vast majority were reserves, who won't be first choice if we do get promoted. It would have been much more useful to let players of our own like Hirst, Broadhead, Wolfy etc test themselves. That being said, the next round is in wb Dec 18 it seems. I'm not sure we would want to add a midweek trip to Everton in the middle of spell of four games in 14 days vs Watford, Norwich, Leeds and Leicester. Couldn't help feeling a little disappointed at the end of last night. But, in McKenna we trust. I would have just preferred him to come out and say, shame, we got it slightly wrong, 2-3 more first team players starting and it would have been closer. PS. Ladapo was hopeless last night. I think he will go in January and we will upgrade. Walton is incredibly low on gametime, he needs to play lots more BCDoors games or up his training schedule. He was responsible for two of the goals last night. Tuanzebe looked rusty, but grew into the game. He needs to get some minutes. |

The fact it is on TV will mean everything possible will be done to keep the game on. If we are aware of this, the club and Sky will both be super aware too. You'd expect them to sort it out. Of course, there is less they will be able to do if it is bucketing down from 5/6pm onwards, but I'm sure they are used to inclement weather in that part of the world. |

100%, it makes more sense for him. But Poch may want to look at him, may even want to use him if he is better than what they have - here's hoping that Chelsea's form picks up leading into the New Year... ;-) |

Some excellent (as in disgusting) politicisation of an absolutely appalling human tragedy on this thread. |

I wonder if there is a risk of losing him in January, maybe him going back to Chelsea? Might they even get an offer for him from another top Championship club, or lower Prem club? Anyone know if they have a recall option for him? |

The season he joined us, he saved us from relegation. Of course, it ended sourly, but in between he brought some pride back to the club - including a play-off campaign on a limited budget. |

That is absolutely awful. I lost my mum when I was a lad (although not as young as that). My heart goes out to that little boy and his dad - and just made a small donation. |

I agree that it is the kind of job that might attract him away. But less likely to now than at some time in the future. Do we know what his religious leanings are though? As a Northern Irish lad (he was raised in County Fermanagh), that may have a bearing... Fermanagh is majority catholic, so he may lean more towards the green side of Glasgow... |

Only time will tell. I have no axe to grind at all, but even if he did take a contract worth £1m, if his career crashes and burns he could quite easily be worse off in the long run. Of course, his agent taking 10% of his current deal will be much better off, whatever happens. |

Hate international breaks. I used to go to many England matches, but really couldn't give a rat's Arsenal anymore. I only realised yesterday that England were playing Scotland tonight. Back in the day, that's all we'd be talking about for weeks. Today, meh... |
