 | News Comment | Hurst: I Don't Think the Group as a Whole Bought into What We Were Trying to Do at 15:46:23
I feel sorry for Hurst to be honest, let's face it we can't be a very attractive proposition for any manager at the moment, fair play he had the courage to take it on in the first place. If ME really cared about the club going forward he would of been doing his upmost to aid Hurst in the first season, especially following MM's departure after years in the job, but instead it seems he was limited to minimal phone calls. Our club won't progress if ME remains, stacking up those debts and adding his own interest on top, dark days lie ahead if something doesn't change and change quickly. |
 | News Comment | Hurst: We Showed Them Too Much Respect at Times at 00:33:43
Typical commenters on here expecting overnight changes and success. I've attended both home matches and watched tonight's match on sky. Considering the wealth of changes in the summer I think PH has done an incredible job so far. Some of the football played against Villa, and actually in spells tonight, are very promising. We allowed Derby possession, set up to be defensively solid, pressed as a unit when we could and pounced on errors when Derby made them. First half we did that perfectly, sometimes in the championship you have to win ugly. Had we turned up tonight and tried to play Derby at their own game we would of been exposed and PH would be called out for his naive tactics. For me we are missing a touch of creativity, a spark that will pick the ball up and pick a pass but I feel the formation suits us on balance, putting two up top won't guarantee us more goals as some seem to suggest. I feel we'd have the capacity to try a 3-5-2 with wingbacks (Edun and Edwards) as both have shown a will to run and a good attitude to carry out defensive duties when needed. That would allow Nolan, Skuse and Chalobah to remain in the middle, with possibly Chambers being flanked by Knudsen and Nsiala in a back three. People need to relax though, we are 4 games into the season, a midtable finish needs to be our aim this season and to start to kick on there after. Please just support what PH is trying to do as it's definitely showing positive signs. |

If he wants to leave us I hope he finds somewhere to go. Nothing more toxic than a player playing somewhere he doesn't want to be. |
 | News Comment | Town Again Linked With Accrington Striker at 13:24:48
It's not about right and wrong fella, it's about getting behind the new manager and the players he wants in rather than ridiculing decisions and judging expected performances before we've even kicked a ball in a competitive game. Value doesn't equal talent, ask Derby. I'd happily watch us finish mid table if we showed signs of progression and an ‘improved' style of play, and even more so if it was done with the young guns from the academy like we witnessed yesterday. Things aren't going to change over night, we're not suddenly going to challenge at the top now MM has packed his bags, like a fear some hope and expect, PH needs to be given time and that time extends past ONE transfer window and 2 months in the job. Bring on Blackburn. |

Timkatieadamitfc - Would you rather us buy run of the mill, middle aged championship players / Premier League ‘pros' who are likely to have a hurt ego from dropping down a division and wonder who was to blame for it other then themselves. Or Young, hungry lower league players wanting to improve in their profession, raise the standard of their game and reach the very top of the pyramid against the odds? Have a think and get back to me before posting senseless statements. Thanks. |

We are guaranteed to miss out on this guy with ME twiddling his thumbs and scratching his head. Wait for the inevitable Pardew announcement... |
 | News Comment | Updated - Marcus Evans Interview at 12:36:30
At a moment in time we need straight forward answers, commitment to the club and a clear plan, he gives us round the houses answers, admits he's open to selling the club and says investment won't change. I'm worried if he makes a managerial appointment that we as the fans can't get behind we will be moving further away from the premier league and fast. Next season will be an interesting one whatever happens! |

Take a chance on a young manager, who has seen plenty of success in lower leagues with small budgets. Or Take a 'safe' run-of-the-mill manager, that will try to implement 'his style' of football that hasn't worked long term at previous clubs? I know where my vote is... |
 | News Comment | Downes Set for Luton Loan at 13:35:25
In a season that looks to be fizzling out, and a chance to give some younger lads a chance, we go and loan out, in my opinion, one of our biggest prospects - looked a great player at the start of the season. Oh sorry forgot we've got Gleeson! Hooray! |
 | News Comment | McCarthy: It's About Trusting Terrific Celina at 17:49:57
meekreech - you are incorrect as it was stated that the statistics are shown per 90 minutes (not raw data or averages per match). Therefore it does not matter the amount of total minutes any of the players have played. If I were to show original data per player this season, of course he would have lower stats as he has played less minutes, but by filtering by 90 minutes it gives a better understanding on what he is capable of compared to the other players. |
 | News Comment | McCarthy: It's About Trusting Terrific Celina at 16:34:27
It's been a while since I did a stats post, but was looking over Celina's given the anger amongst fans that he isn't handed a regular starting place. So how does he stack up against over other options in similar positions this season? [All statistics are per 90 minutes played] GOALS: Celina: 0.92 Waghorn: 0.83 Ward: 0.12 Sears: 0 ASSISTS: Ward: 0.49 Waghorn: 0.24 Celina: 0 Sears: 0 TOTAL SHOTS: Celina: 3.67 Waghorn: 2.74 Sears: 1.20 Ward: 0.49 SHOT ACCURACY: Celina: 78% Waghorn: 55% Ward: 33% Sears: 0% TOTAL PASSES: Celina: 34.9 Ward: 28.34 Waghorn: 17.74 Sears: 17.37 KEY PASSES: Celina: 2.14 Ward: 1.58 Waghorn: 1.07 Sears: 0.75 PASS COMPLETION: Celina: 76% Ward: 76% Sears: 68% Waghorn: 67% CHANCES CREATED: Celina: 2.14 Ward: 2.07 Waghorn: 1.31 Sears: 0.75 If we allocate a scoring system for each stat (e.g. 4 points for top through to 1 point for bottom), here's the scores per player: 1. CELINA (30 points) 2. WARD (21 points) 3. WAGHORN (19 points) 4. SEARS (10 points) The above statistics are those on which I felt attacking players performance will be based on, therefore left defensive statistics to one side. Somewhat conclusive. |

The negativity is staggering. Get behind the lad instead of questioning the signing or where he's come from! |
 | News Comment | Ex-Loanee Lawrence Joins Derby at 18:05:02
theblueginger - Derby have made £19m from three transfers this summer (Ince, Hughes and Christie) and signed £9.5m's worth. FFP not an issue. |
