I decided to delete it as realistically I don't know what is going on in the minds of people involved and it would be unhealthy for me to have a debate on this topic. But yes I am very conflicted, and don't think it is black and white at all. I like cheddar cheese and will add it to almost any meal. |

Enciso is super talented but it feels like 90% of those brilliant moves end in wasted opportunities, then the one that works out gets him all the praise on MOTD and the like when in reality we would be getting more points wit other attackers who are less skilful but pass the ball. Hutchinson is a far better player, almost as skilful but 10x the decision making and plays for the result rather than the highlights more. |

This game was a typical example where the team just had an insane desire to get back into it and win which counted for more than the talented players of Leeds and Southampton. If we had stuck with the promotion squad more this season we might have a similar number of points, but the attitude of the fans would be more like what we saw after Forest every time, like the team had really given it all but just fallen short, rather than like United or Southampton. |
 | Forum Reply | Is it time for George Hirst? at 17:34 23 Feb 2025
I think it is a bit of a theme that our front players don't pass enough and just try to score themselves, particularly Delap, Enciso and Philogene, while Hutchinson and Broadhead sometimes overestimate their ability to skill the opposition. If we had Hirst and Chaplin up front they would link play better. Delap has far more potential than Hirst but wouldn't necessarily bring far better results. Personally I think Hirst for 60 minutes when shape is more important then Delap for 30 when we just have to go for it and hope for the best could work (Enciso and Philogene to come on at the same time), as Delap would be particularly effective against tired defenders. Weird to say when Delap is clearly our best player but I think it is worth a try. Palmer Tuanzebe O'Shea Burgess Davis Phillips Cajuste Hutchinson Chaplin Broadhead Hirst With Delap, Philogene, Szmodics, Clarke (Enciso when fit) and Morsy to come on, or Woolfenden instead of one of those attackers if we need to hold what we've got. However, it is also possible that in a match that is going badly, knowing Delap could get one back effectively alone might be motivating for the rest of the team to fight harder. Certainly I would always start him against a top team. But maybe that motivation could still come knowing he will come off the bench. |
 | Forum Reply | Do you ever think about how long you’ve got left? at 17:37 5 Feb 2025
“Why should I fear death? If I am, then death is not. If Death is, then I am not. Why should I fear that which can only exist when I do not?" An ancient Greek quote which is overly simplistic as it doesn't take into account the experience of those left alive, but worth noting nonetheless. |
