Could there be a mechanism whereby the thread automatically locks itself when a certain number of downvotes are reached within a short period of time ? "Thread on timeout for 1 hour". That´s not personal, but could easily be abused to a degree I suppose. Sorry if this has already been suggested. |

I can hear the crowd at Old Trafford from my abode, was born in Cambridgeshire, but I only support one team. I follow a few others. But am a True Blue - since 1973. Never lived in Ipswich, only Suffolk. |

Yeah, the intrusions from the Gun Licence people and the Dog Licence people and the XYZ Licence people are annoying, too, so sending them all letters "I don`t need one" is the way it should be. Except it is not. |

You can just tell anybody who shows up this verbally, and tell them to pass the message on to their company, Crapita, and the BBC Licensing people. That should be enough to stop them knocking on your door unless it´s directly onto the street. But it won´t stop the mail harassment. I´ve had it for over 20 years now. |

Continuous improvement / 5 Sigma Production / Kaizen / TQM can be very powerful management-of-processes tools. Depends what you are doing. Surprised your company isn't utilising these already. |

I'll just pick you up on the "dental and doctors" bit - I am not prevented from obtaining either by anybody else, but by the lack of dentists who will take on new patients on the NHS; and I cannot see my doctor because they have new, "efficient" systems which mean me taking a day off work to make a phone call to maybe get an appointment the same day if I'm lucky. This is not about any extra people, it's about services being cut to the bone. |

Love flying, and always have. Prefer smaller planes as you can feel the wind-waves. Mostly these days it's just a means-to-an-end in these enormous great monsters. I also like sailing, which gives me similar pleasure. I don't like roller-coaster fairground rides, tho', haha. But, yes, things change - your senses deteriorate, and other conditions may take hold. If you don't like it, try not to do it. |
 | Forum Reply | Is it possible to edit your user name. at 19:57 29 Jul 2024
I work with a group who have Citizen1236573 as an alternative to their original name. Usually given to people who have forgotten their original username, or else ones with offensive names. THAT would be very confusing, Citizen1236537, don't u agree ? |
 | Forum Reply | Beer at 18:13 23 Jul 2024
I like all the beers mentioned above, haha. Some less good than others, and I rarely drink big-brand ones, so am not a Carling expert. Less keen on flavoured beers, like chocolate or melon - but if you start with one, they taste reasonable. I find the flavour of one beer is affected adversely by the previous one, so if I have a variety, I choose the order (flavour, and then the strength) carefully. I like Ghost Ship and Bah Humbug. But Brahma I have found to be undrinkable. And Gutbier is hard on the gut (not available in the UK, tho', afaik). My go-to beer is any, but if I can find a Co-op with their own-brand lager (some Spars have it, too), I am always pleased. Favourites: Ch'Ti French beers, and Theakston's Old Pec. Or German Beers. |
