Philogene with some confidence - brilliant. Furlong very very good, especially in the first half - looked like he had time on the ball, defended brilliantly. Matusiwa and Nunez both look quality. J Clarke also showing confidence off the bench. Egili looks like he could be some player once he settles. Godfrey robbing a living as a footballer - he makes Ben Johnson look like Roberto Carlos! Love having that winning feeling. Well done all. |

Ashley Young - must be injured surely, has been our best player.... McKenna can't be resting him after an international break and surely he hasn't dropped him? |
 | News Comment | Woolfenden Completes Coventry Move at 21:31:17
I'll miss you Woolfy - deserved to play more in my opinion. £4m is an absolute bargain, given what we have shelled out for some VERY average players (that are still in our squad). |
 | News Comment | McKenna: We Have a New Team to Build at 21:38:22
Firstly, I’ve been a big fan of Kieran McKenna, and I really hope he can turn it around at Ipswich, but doubts that started creeping in at the start of this year are continuing to grow. Our successive promotions were off the back of team spirit – we were a good team, but we weren’t a great team. I loved that. He then spent in excess of £120m and didn’t even get close to keeping us in the EPL – and it seems that team spirit no longer exists. He talks about having to build a new team, but 10 of our current starters were at the club last season. This excuse has been rolled out in successive seasons, but nearly every other club in the Championship is in a similar situation and some of them have hit the ground running – we have brought in 6 players (and that includes Button, who won’t play and Cajuste who knows our systems), Birmingham for example have brought in 10 new players…. Why aren’t they struggling? He seems incapable of changing the way we play either match to match or during a match, when our approach doesn’t seem to be working (confirmed by one league win in 2025). Our build up play is so slow that teams generally find it very easy to defend against us – as on paper at least, it looks like we have some players that would enable us to play at pace and really try and stretch the opposition. What’s happened to taking the ball to the byline and getting a cross in? The tedious passing across the back line/keeper, to then just give the ball away anyway and put ourselves under pressure is mind-boggling – I’m trying to remember the last time it actually worked and we were able to pass out from the back, through a team and score? Even something as simple as a throw-in – has anyone noticed that throw-ins by Johnson and Davis nearly always end up with the opposition (don’t bother taking it quickly, let’s wait until the opposition are ready….). His loyalty to some players over the past year, when there are clearly other/better options, is also head scratching – I don’t think I need to name names. I’m looking for and hoping for any small hints that something is changing, but I’m yet to see anything and my concern grows. The deafening silence from the owners is also a worry. As a start, I want to see the players giving 100%, showing some passion and fighting for each other – that’s the bare minimum and a base to start from. |
 | News Comment | Birmingham City 1-1 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 22:57:40
Well we got an undeserved point - that's the only positive I have today. We were truly awful - it looked like Birmingham were the ex-EPL side not us. Our build-up is so slow and lacks intensity, we are so easy to defend against, and other than subbing like for like, McKenna changes nothing during the game. Playing out from the back cost us a goal today, we just play a few risky passes until someone hits it long to the opposition - it seems pointless to me. As I said last season Johnson is League One level at best, and unfortunately he wasn't even our worst player today. Taylor offers nothing at either end of the field (how does McKenna leave him on for the full game - what is he seeing that I'm not), or in the middle for that matter - no creativity in midfield. Matusiwa broke up play well at times, but didn't look particularly confident on the ball, hopefully will get better and would benefit from Cajuste (or Humphreys) playing alongside him. Ogbene did very little and Clarke did even less - should have been dragged at halftime. Al Hamadi isn't the answer, but at least he showed some effort when he came on. This has confirmed by belief that we will be a mid-table side this season at best (bookies are clueless) - but I hope I'm wrong. |
 | News Comment | Blues 'Closing in On' Cajuste Return at 02:43:01
This won't be a very popular post - however I'm a bit mystified by how highly so many fans rate Cajuste. I think he's an okay player, but 1) I worry about his knee and how he would cope with the number of games in the Championship; and 2) last season he showed the odd glimpse of being a good player, but he never did it consistently and never even got parity with the opposition in the midfield battle, let alone dominate. If we were to be promoted again (a big IF), I don't think he's the player to help us stay up, it will just be more of the same. Especially at the fee quoted. |
 | News Comment | Edwards: The Ball's in Hackney's Court at 04:42:38
I've read that Spurs and Everton are still interested in signing him - if true, my gut feel is that he will delay/hold out to get an offer to play in the EPL. Would love to see him at Ipswich but don't think it will happen... |
 | News Comment | Fulham Linked With Johnson at 22:22:31
Just so I'm clear, my comments relate to his ability, as shown over the course of the season, not to do with his red card vs. Newcastle. He does seem to cover a bit of ground up and down the left side, but defends poorly, gives the ball away often, and a very high percentage of his successful passes are backwards or square. |
 | News Comment | Fulham Linked With Johnson at 21:39:56
Yessss My personal opinion is he nowhere near EPL level. Not a great defender, offers very little going forward and doesn't seem to make good use of his size. League One player at best, hope we can get his wages off the books. |
 | News Comment | Morsy: We Know There's a Great Opportunity to Come Back at 21:38:41
“We’ve been close. To survive in the league as a promoted team you need those margins to go your way" I think firstly the players need to be honest and admit they haven't been close. We have absolutely competed in a lot of games, but unfortunately only for short amounts of time. It needs to be for 90+ mins or you have no chance to stay up. Not through lack of effort I would say, but through lack of quality. Really hope we can bounce back next season, but think it will be a tough task. Will be an interesting summer, seeing who stays and who goes. |
