Bromley 1-1 Ipswich Town (5-4 on Pens) - Match Report
at 13:02:14

Confidence, Confidence, Confidence. We lack it at the moment. We lack dynamism, creativity and guile. There is also the known factor within the squad that arrivals will be coming, (my word they need to be) which is probably unsettling a few. There is also a lack of Joy within the squad, which losing so much last year will definitely suck it out of you. The team of two years ago, had joy when playing, even when we were down. They look like a team that is burdened by expectation and don't want to make a mistake because those mistakes were punished time and time again last year. Winning breeds confidence, the quicker we get back to winning ways I believe we will see our old team back.

A few thoughts on the players last night.

Jack Clarke is a very good player but has no confidence, doesn't believe that he is going to beat people at the moment. You can see it in his body language. He beats on player and then goes to beat another, he needs to keep it simple. Beat one player, pass and move to receive it back. You take out 2-3 opposition players that way, without expending the same amount of energy to try and take on 2-3 players.

Ali AL-Hamadi is not good enough, he's too slow, hasn't got a great first touch and fails to being others in the game. If you play him he has to play as a second striker because he cant play by himself up top.

I thought for the most part the defense looked good enough. Young was really good and Johnson when he came on put in a good shift.

Chaplin was not his crisp self, a lot of loose passes. However he didn't get a ton of minutes in pre season.

Ogbene, had flashes, but still working back from a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Humphrey's and Barbrook were neat and tidy, didn't look out of place. I thought that they kept it too simple and could of been braver in taking the ball forward and breaking the lines of Bromley down.

Any way apologies for the long post but just some thoughts. COYB

Our recruitment is worrying though. If se sell Hutchison we need to replace him quickly. We left it late last summer and it hurt us in the Prem.

McKenna: Hutchinson Didn't Feel That He Could Contribute Today
at 12:25:03

My thoughts on this are a little bit all over the place. On one hand he is under contract and should be willing to play and play well to put himself in the "shop window".

Secondly, McKenna is not at fault for this. Unfortunately this is a sign of the times. Hutchison's advisors are I his ear and his head is turned. Look at the Isak situation at Newcastle and the Wissa situation at Brentford. Both are refusing to play in preseason to angle a move. Are we to blame Howe and Andrews for the actions of their player too?

Mckenna can't make him play, you can't put a player on the field who is not 100% mentally there. It would be like playing a man down. It's not being unprofessional its psychology.

I agree with those saying that it's not a great look and sours their view on him. But he is just a kid still (21 is a kid, young adults are not as mentally developed nowadays as they were back in the day) and he wants to play in the premier league (who wouldn't).

Ultimately, if we get an offer that is best for the club then we should take it and move on and he would leave with my best wishes. If he stays and plays then he will have my full support because whoever puts on that famous blue shirt deserves our backing.

Town Linked With US International Striker Agyemang
at 13:45:14

Since I live in the states, I've watched him numerous times. He is a good option to have alongside Hirst. He is strong, good in the air and has decent pace. His interplay skills and his hold up ability needs work but he does find the net. His record with Charlotte isn't a major concern as the standard of players around him isn't brilliant. With better service and a better standard of player around him I feel he could do well.

Morsy: Fulham Are a Really Tough Team
at 17:03:24

Cannot understate how important this guy is to the way we play, the culture of the team and how quickly the new players buy in and adopt our team philosophies. A True leader!

Boro's Latte Lath Linked

He is a very exciting prospect but someone with more top flight experience would be preferable. However that might be difficult to do because of being priced out and adhering to FFP.

AFC Wimbledon 2-2 Ipswich Town (4-2 on pens) - Match Report
at 14:35:09

Razor...Fair point. I don't accept it as a reason for results. You have to go into every game expecting a win and a performance. I feel that we definitely have a chance on Saturday.

With the attention to detail that Kieran gives on the practice field and the leadership we have within the team. A couple of weeks, especially with the international break.

AFC Wimbledon 2-2 Ipswich Town (4-2 on pens) - Match Report
at 14:19:56

I don't normally post, but felt this is the right time. No one is happy about losing to Wimbledon, no one should be happy about it. I know Kieran and the players certainly are not. Win on Saturday and yesterday will fade into the background. Which brings me to my point. People mentioned Fulham and the result last year. They ripped us apart and that was with our squad that had been together and as some people call them the band of brothers.
I for one am going to be eternally grateful for each one of those player that got us here, but the reality is that most of them are not good enough for the Prem. Squad Harmony and togetherness is a real thing and will help you to a point but ultimately quality is what will get you results. Our team needed improving and it has been, but the team will need time to Gel. Have we brought too many players in? hard to say as of yet. Most of the core of the team from the last two years will still be here but will have to play different roles. They will be crucial in integrating the new players and fostering the team spirit that we are accustomed to. It will not happen overnight, Saturday will be tough but in a few weeks our team will be more settled and results will be more positive. Looking at the rest of the league, I don't feel we will be too far behind by then.

Trust the process and enjoy the ride. Its been far too long since we have been here and no need to get on each others backs!
