Hi Guys Leeds Fan here (I come in peace). I have read the comments on this thread and have to point out a few things to some of you guys. The points you are raising on here are exactly the same points us Leeds Fans have been raising for the past three seasons regarding our own transfer dealings. The guys who posted that Leeds are ignoring the financial fair play rules really do need to do their homework. In the last three seasons, Bates has continuously sold off our best assets for decent money and has failed to replace them or replaced them with freebies and loans. The money raised from these dealings has been spent on a nice new stand redevelopment with the rest of the money coming from selling finance levied on future season ticket sales. Leeds have also recorded decent operating profits over the last few years and are probably the most financially sound team in the division if not the football league. As for us "tracking the same players as you guys". It's no secret that Pompey are in finacial dire straights so obviously decent players will be available at good money. We went throught his awful situation several years ago so know what it feels like but regardless of that, it would be foolish of us to not try to take advantage of it. you have to accept that if you think a player is good, then other teams may think their good as well and you will be competing with them for thier services. i'm pretty sure we dont have someopne following your scouts around to see who you are interested in. Finally, as to why the players have chosen Leeds over Ipswich. I am confident that the decision is not based on financial reason as I can assure you Bates will not be paying them wages that are over the market norm. We have lost several players because of Bate's wage policy. You are talking about someone who thinks £9 million is a big enough budget to cover player purchases AND wages.... this figure represents about 30% of our income when most teams are spending closer to 60% on wages alone. i can only guess that facilities at Leeds are better than Ipswich's (although i dont know much about your facilities so cant swear to this), and as someone else pointed out, Leeds is a good/vibrant city to live in. As fat as the teams go though, i dont think there is much (if anything) between us at the moment. anyway, good luck for next season (except against us obviously) |
