 | Forum Reply | The first album you bought. at 21:13 6 Jul 2025
Wings - Band on the Run was my first LP as a schoolkid. My tastes have twisted and turned in the subsequent years but I remain a music obsessive with an embarrassingly large collection of vinyl. Mr McCartney's outfit is however lno longer represented, probably traded in to buy something wilder in the late 70s. |

Age has little to do with it. There are plenty of 50+ fans, myself included, that sing a lot. However, there are two guys in their late teens/early twenties next to me who very rarely sing and more often berate the players than support them. so lets not make this about age. The only answer is for the club to put safe standing into SBRL and declare it to be a 'singing section' and then offer some kind of incentive for non singers to move elsewhere - how about a better seat for the same price for the first year? |

Speaking to a Wrexham season-ticket holder last night. He was far from optimistic about their prospects. He also said that with ongoing ground development their capacity will only be around 10,000 next season with an away allocation of 1000. |
 | Forum Reply | What stops us winning the Championship next year? at 20:28 26 Mar 2025
We have ambitious owners and I think the club will yes want to secure promotion but also to ensure that we go up in a stronger position. For that reason I think there may be a few surprises with players who have served us well but ultimately were found wanting in the Premier League being moved on in favour of players with a potential higher ceiling. Simply being a very good Championship player may not cut it in every case. I'm not saying there will be a wholesale clearout but the club will want to inject new blood and new impetus. Can also see a couple of Hutchinson style high grade young Prem loanees coming in. |
 | Forum Reply | Musings for next seasons squad at 20:37 16 Mar 2025
There is little point in returning to the Prem in a years time with many of the players that failed to cut it this time around. I can see a large number of the L1/Champ side being replaced. The owners are ambitious and will want to improve the quality of the squad year on year. 'Good enough for the Champiosnship' I suspect won't cut it, they will look to keep players who still have not reached their ceiling and offload those that have. To me that means goodbye to Broadhead, Chaplin, Burns, Taylor, Luongo. H Clarke and Burgess. Departing loanees will save hugely on the wage bill and sale of Delap will bring in good money. Not sure that Davis or Hutchinson have done enough to convince established Prem clubs to come in for them. More likely to go to a promoted club like Leeds. Will keep Palmer, try to loan out Muric (probably abroad) and promote Slicker to number 2 as again he potentially has a higher ceiling than Walton who is on good money, wages that could be saved. |
 | Forum Reply | Some good fanzine nostalgia here at 23:16 14 Mar 2025
I did Townsfolk and only produced three issues. I think it was a bit ahead of its time but also very amateur. I literally ran them off on the printer at work. I remember selling the first issue to Town away fans at the Goldstone Ground. When I tried to sell them at Portman Road I actually got stick for trying to sell 'pirate programmes' and gave up.after number 3. A while later when the fanzine thing began to take off, a guy called Paul Stevens got in touch saying he was thinking of launching a new Ipswich fanzine and asked if I wanted to contribute. He was struggling for a name and I suggested 'Those Were The Days'. He ran with it and I contributed to those early issues that he produced. My involvement didn't last too long and I believe he also gave it up after a while and TWTD was taken on by Phil. The rest of course is history. |
 | Forum Reply | Who is Manchester bound tomorrow then? at 22:10 25 Feb 2025
Get off at Old Trafford mate, not Trafford Bar. Old Trafford is next to the cricket ground and a relatively short walk to Man Utd. Trafford Bar is much further away. |
 | Forum Reply | Phillips at 10:03 2 Feb 2025
I was also at Anfield and totally agree. Speaking to some Liverpool fans on the bus back to Lime Street and they said exactly the same, yet someone started a post on here describing him as "anonymous". The mind boggles as to what some people are watching. |
 | Forum Reply | Nathan Broadhead at 22:31 28 Jan 2025
If we stay up I could see him going to Wrexham next year if they get promoted. They are ambitious and would be able to afford him. He's from North Wales so it would all seem a like a good fit. If we are relegated I think we keep him. |
 | Forum Reply | How much we paying for Phillips? at 10:02 26 Jan 2025
I'd go further, I thought that he was by some distance our best player at Anfield. Talking to some Liverpool fans on the bus back to the station and they were very interested in how he was doing because they though he looked "really good". I think some of our fans seem to have an agenda against him or simply don't understand his role in the team. He gave a good account of himself against the best team in the country. Not his fault if his good work is not built upon by others. |
 | Forum Reply | So, in the worst case scenario that McKenna goes to Spurs this month at 17:05 21 Jan 2025
Did well last year? Yes he had all three of those plus Carvalho and a number of other very decent players - but still mangaged to finish outside the play-offs. His current team, Strasbourg, are in the bottom half of Ligue 1. Not sure how doing "a good job for us as a player" qualifies him to be a Premier League manager. |
 | Forum Reply | Muric will play tomorrow. at 20:43 18 Jan 2025
Because he's our best keeper. Walton surrenders possession far too easily and against Man City you're not going to get it back in a hurry. This leaves us chasing shadows and knackered after 70 minutes, then they move in for the kill. We can use our subs but they are not of the same quality as those they would be replacing. There is no denying that Muric has made errors but he commands his box, is an excellent shot stopper and tries to get us moving up the pitch in possession. I trust our coaching staff to iron out the errors and in the long term he'll be a top keeper. Muric wasn't bought on a whim. We will have been very diligent in our research and assessment. We paid good money for him and he has a long contract. McKenna will be confident of getting a return on that investment. He won't be out of the team for very long. |
 | Forum Thread | Morsy's place still guaranteed? at 22:11 5 Jan 2025
Not particularly referencing his giving away of the first penalty at Fulham, but has there been signs of a drop off? He's guaranteed legendary status and has been our most important and effective player in both our promotions. However, he is 33 and although he keeps very fit, how much longer can continue to be our midfield dynamo? When 100% fit are we moving towards a Cajuste/Phillips partnership? or maybe a new January or summer signing coming in. It was noticeable that McKenna's eulogy to him last week was largely in the past tense. Was he paving the way for Morsy to become more of a squad player and no longer the first name on the teamsheet? I'm not convinced that he will continue to start every match for the rest of the season. |

Yes I saw that. Very impressive in both senses. |
 | Forum Reply | What on earth is this Town kit i found on vinted? at 15:57 3 Dec 2024
That's a Spurs away shirt from that time. Given the North London rivalry my guess would be that someone mocked it up to have a laugh at Arsenal's expense after we beat them. Certainly not an official Ipswich shirt. |
 | Forum Reply | Clubs you'd like/wouldn't mind seeing back in the FL at 21:22 23 Nov 2024
Agree with all that. Would add Rochdale, Scunthorpe, Bury and Halifax as proper football clubs. Truro City, Gloucester City and Telford all have the capacity to sustain well supported league teams but obviously not ex-league teams. Some I feel may not be seen again in the league for a long time, if ever, notably Darlington, Southport and Workington. |
