Anyone here own an Olde English Bulldog?
at 11:16 12 Mar 2025

Morning! I am a proud father to Wilson a 4 year old Olde English Bulldog. He is our first Olde English Bulldog and wont be our last! He is a loveable 41 kg lap dog! he has all the bulldog characteristics... he is slobbery, food obsessed, snoring, grumpy, lazy and a sleep machine.
A typical Wilson day.
He wakes up in his basket in the kitchen (don't let him sleep on your bed... he snores and bed hogs)
he is reluctant to get out of his bed (lazy) have to bribe him with treat to go for a wee + no2
Breakfast - We order his food from Tails.com... bull dogs have funny diets and will be trial and error until you find one they like and doesn't give them the squits.
he then returns to his fav chair in the living room in the sun (sun worshipper)
fast forward 6 hours... he hasn't moved an inch and still asleep....
I have to bribe him to go out for a wee
then returns to his chair to sleep (again)
When I get home from work I take him for a walk.... bulldogs dont require long walks... 30 - 45 mins is adequate, be warned if its raining or snowing or to hot... expect your bulldog to protest and want to return home... this normally means he will lay down and have a sit down protest... trust me... 40kg bulldogs are too heavy to carry!!
when we get home its dinner time and then an evening on the sofa in front of the tv sleeping (again)
Its not all positives though .... there are some negatives.... insurance... as soon as you say B U L L D O G on the phone.... expect quotes around £100 a month
then there is the health issues... Old english are better because they have a longer nose... longer legs... but we have had issues in our 4 years that the insurance has covered... thankfully.
But as a breed we love him... he is great with the kids... he isn't a barky dog.... he is full of character (when he is awake)
He was a little humpy as a young puppy... but calmed down when we had him done.
Also Bulldogs are sociable with other dogs.... but bulldogs are idiots and don't know how to play.... they like to bundle and bulldose and get up in front of other dogs faces..... all they want to do is play but other dogs sometimes take offence to such shenanigans
You can train bulldogs.... sit... beg...stay... but be warned you will only be able to achieve this if the dog can be bothered and there's food involved.
Hopefully this helps... we would highly recommend the bread. we love him to pieces... but an old English bulldog isn't just another dog .... in there eyes they are the king of the house!
