 | News Comment | McKenna: We Were at Full Stretch Even Before Red Card at 23:01:25
I'd put good money on us finishing above Leicester and Southampton next season, and that's because there is calmness, continuity and long term thinking at the club. Sure, we all wish we'd performed better and done certain things differently this season, but there is nothing kneejerk about ITFC these days, and we will be all the better for it. |
 | News Comment | Johnson: We've Done the Club Proud at 11:19:32
Bazza, I couldn't agree more with everything you say. Thanks for brining some much-needed rational balance back to the comments. We can be disappointed while still taking pride in where our club is and has come from. I was certainly proud of the team on Sunday As for Johnson, I think he was scapegoated a little for a couple of bad team performances earlier in the season and we can all be slow to revise our opinions on players. I love the way he actually gets up and down the wing, gets balls in rather than cutting back all the time, and isn't afraid to pop up in the six yard box. |
 | News Comment | McKenna: Players and Supporters Did Themselves Proud at 08:58:32
It may feel like small consolation, but the fact that we haven't panicked and sacked our manager is the reason we're going to finish best of the promoted teams, with a squad still fully committed and together and fans still united behind the whole club. I'm proud of that and it puts us in a great position for next season. |
 | News Comment | Chelsea 2-2 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 18:43:51
A performance to be proud of. Great to see us consistently transitioning to attack and posing a threat throughout despite the stats looking like Chelsea dominated - it shows we're learning how to play at this level and I can't help thinking it's connected to Hirst starting (not to mention that Delap is a beast from the bench). Also delighted to see Johnson show his ability at both ends - I think he's been criticised a little unfairly at times this season and would've looked better had he played more with Axel. |
 | News Comment | McKenna: Philogene Injury Looks Like a Blow at 18:00:16
There's not a lot of point playing Phillips any more this season now. He won't be with us next season and it would be a bit of a travesty if Morsy were denied the last few PL starts. Terrible luck for Philogene but good commitment from Delap. |
 | News Comment | McKenna: An Important Week at 12:19:11
I agree with DifferentGravy - it would be good to see a bit of flexibility in our play, for instance pushing Davis further forward (with Townsend at left back), having both strikers on and going a bit more direct if needed with balls into the box from Davis/Hutchinson. At least Morsy will be back tonight - for all Phillips' qualities I think the captain drives us forward more (as he did in the Forest cup game) and makes the team more joined up. |
 | News Comment | Third Time's a Charm For Town Against Forest? at 12:58:46
I would love to see us with Townsend at left back and Davis left midfield so that everyone is playing to their actual strengths. That would also give us the option to put on a second striker and go more direct with Davis and Hutchinson getting balls into the box (as Different Gravy suggests). |
 | News Comment | Morsy: We Weren't at the Level at 17:12:32
The three things that are certain in life - death, taxes and a Lee James comment criticising Morsy under every single TWTD post |
 | News Comment | McKenna: Lack of Home Wins Mostly Down to Small Margins at 21:08:07
Wow, such a shame to see people calling out the players they don't personally like as being responsible, especially when it's a club legend like Morsy or someone who barely played (AAH). Thankfully most fans realise we are all in this together rather than turning on individuals. If we survive it's because we are greater than the sum of our parts. |
 | News Comment | McKenna Confirms Burns Out For Season at 19:36:21
The good thing is, when KM says he'll be well looked after and see the very best people, we know that will be the case. And that ability across the club to keep things in perspective, stay level and appreciate what we have will stand us in good stead down the stretch. |
 | News Comment | McKenna: Clarke and Al-Hamadi Still Have Futures at Town at 18:23:43
Pleased to see KM talk about both players in these terms. They are both young with talent, a good attitude and development potential. People forget we bought Al-Hamadi on a 5 year contract because of that potential. We didn't necessarily expect him to be PL- ready straight away. |
 | News Comment | Al-Hamadi Deal Not Done But Baggies Want Permanent Switch at 14:18:56
Wow, so many people wishing away a promising young goalscorer with plenty of potential who we've barely had a year, as if we've got a queue of them coming out of the academy who are Premier League-ready. Thank goodness that's not who we are as a club any more. |
 | News Comment | Al-Hamadi West Brom Move Breaks Down at 23:02:11
Of course he could still have a future at Town. He's only 22 and we gave him a five year contract because we saw development potential. He still has that potential but we didn't necessarily expect him to be thrown straight into the PL, and we haven't seen the best of him due to injury, lack of game time and loss of confidence and rhythm. He's an extremely nice, humble and grounded individual and I've no doubt his hard work and humility will ultimately lead to success. |
 | News Comment | Ipswich Town 0-6 Manchester City - Match Report at 19:40:31
That was painful and the players will be hurting. But let's stick together and keep the faith - if we are to survive this season it will be through staying calm and not panicking when things like today happen. And let's try not to heap criticism on individual players or use a really poor team performance to bash those we don't personally rate. |
 | News Comment | Ipswich Town 0-2 Brighton & Hove Albion - Match Report at 18:28:02
Like others, I'm a bit bemused as to why Morsy didn't play last night. Cajuste is more likely to find two games in four days difficult, and if Morsy and Phillips are seen as too similar then go with Morsy and Taylor. One thing's for sure, without the captain we lack drive, leadership and the ability to link defence to attack. I'm surprised at the comments on here knocking him. Sure he's made mistakes - everyone has - but of those who've been on the full journey with us I reckon he's looked most at home in the PL. |
 | News Comment | Ex-Blue Bloomfield New Luton Boss at 18:42:32
When KMcK eventually leaves us for a top job, Bloomfield should be high on the list to replace him. A Suffolk boy and a progressive young manager who does things the right way, his profile would be a great fit |
