 | News Comment | Chelsea 2-2 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 23:39:17
Just what do the media have against Ipswich Town? Last season we got grudging praise throughout the season from Sky commentators and pundits and this season BBC have been equally bad. Despite what was almost a heroic win against Chelsea I was disgusted that following the heavily edited highlights in Chelsea favour we did not even get one word regarding our display from Danny Murphy or Dion Dublin. Delap came on and produced a typical display including a superb solo run thro’ Chelsea defence but even this did not warrant a viewing. Stuff your BBC - your anti Ipswich bias will certainly not be missed next season. |
 | News Comment | Town Topic: Gamechanger Takeover Four Years On at 09:31:37
So many individual highlights and moments from the past 4 years but what I take away is the entire journey from the despair of League 1 to reaching the Premier League which includes not just the on field performances but the huge upgrade in the stadium and training ground. After so many years of decline what a fantastic turnaround. |
 | News Comment | McKenna: Time Still an Issue With VAR at 09:59:07
Well, if we do go down, VAR is one thing I won’t miss. The law makers have made offside ridiculously complicated so I can see reason for some fairly long delays but 4 minutes to decide whether or not Sarr committed a foul before scoring in recent game v Chelsea is absolutely ridiculous. It seems to be that VAR are looking for excuses to rule out goals. Football used to be a simple game before all the rule tweaks and we all knew what was going on despite our ignorance of the tactics so wonderfully described by KM in his review of the goals we scored v Bournemouth |
 | News Comment | McKenna to Make Late Judgements on Hutchinson and Davis Among Others at 09:46:16
Much credit to Phillips. He is a loan player, nearing the end of his loan to a team probably heading for relegation, yet he is prepared to come on as a sub despite 20+ stitches in his foot to fight the cause to stay up. Not many loan players would have the commitment to do this. If at all possible I think the permanent transfer of Phillips and Cajuste would be a huge building block for the future. A long shot I must admit but both seem happy with life at Portman Rd. |
 | News Comment | Scotland Boss Clarke Watches Hirst at 09:49:37
I remember not too far ago when one could only play for the country of birth. It is ridiculous now when nations are tracking back to grandparents era to try to get players to play for them. Whose next - great grandparents? I moved from Scotland down to London in 1969 but not long before my wife was about to give birth to my second child, I ensured that she returned to her parents in Scotland so that the birth could be registered in Scotland just in case my expectant son became a successful footballer. The birth was successful, his football prowess alas was non existent! |
 | News Comment | Ex-Referees' Chief: Jones Too Quick to Issue Tuanzebe's First Yellow Card at 09:57:46
In yesterday’s Liverpool v Wolves game Konate of Liverpool received a yellow for a shirt tug then a few minutes later committed a normally bootable foul on same player yet gets away with it. Another example of leniency towards the ‘big’ clubs v the rest. So he then gets subbed off to prevent chance of a future yellow, Liverpool continue with 11 players and go on to win. A welcome loss for Wolves as far as we are concerned but another obvious injustice by our woeful officials |
 | News Comment | Aston Villa 1-1 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 17:49:10
“RUNNING TOWARDS ADVERSITY”. Our motto was never more evident than it was today. Losing Enciso so early to injury and then going down to 10 men after around 35 mins, our squad showed enormous spirit and bravery to attain a draw at the fortress which is Villa Park. If this attitude can continue to be shown in remaining games then I feel sure that the great escape is on, especially as we now appear to have a solid goalkeeper |
 | News Comment | Coventry City 1-4 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 17:46:42
Great to see free scoring Town again albeit against lower league opposition. So pleased to see Jack Clarke rediscover his Sunderland form. Hopefully this will be the spark to reignite his obvious talent and he can reproduce this talent in Premier League. A result which will also benefit Jayden and a good introduction for Alex Palmer. |
 | News Comment | Liverpool 4-1 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 18:09:18
We’ve just lost to two of the best teams on the planet but our relegation rivals have still to play them. Now that they are out of the way our season can seriously begin. Time to show the rest of PL just how good we can be. Once our new signings get the feel of the club I am sure we will avoid relegation. |
 | News Comment | Enciso Loan Signing Confirmed at 11:17:26
If the reports concerning the interest of other major clubs both here and abroad are accurate we do appear to have made a coup in securing the loan of Enciso. It has also been mentioned in reports that he feels unwanted by Brighton manager so if we continue in PL next season and he fits in well here a permanent move may well be achieved. I get the impression that our wonderful manager has once again been a major factor in securing this deal. What a reputation Kieran is gaining throughout the game - we are so fortunate to have him |
 | News Comment | Ipswich Town 0-1 Crystal Palace - Match Report at 22:00:22
In the games in which they have played this season Harry Clarke and Wes Burns have looked out of depth in PL. Tonight verified that. Losing Tuanzebe, Ogbene, Hirst and Phillips not helping cause but if we can maintain close contact in bottom six mini-league until January window I still think we can achieve safety |
 | News Comment | Ipswich Town 1-1 Leicester City - Match Report at 18:00:37
Back in the days spent in League 1 the cry around Portman Rd was that we only get sh1t refs. However are they really much better in PL. It seems to me that if you are not one of ‘The Big 6’ then don’ expect too many rubs of the green. I am of the opinion that VAR is a big cause of that. With today’s potential penalty, despite it being pretty obvious but it was not even reviewed. How many times do we see on TV innocuous tackles being reviewed? Obviously not today.VAR is a crutch for incompetent refs. They decide “Oh that’s borderline but I’ll play on and if VAR override my decision and award a penalty, that’s down to them”. There is without a doubt unconscious bias towards the top clubs. Also that was never a foul by Phillips just as Clarke’s ‘foul’ last week. 2 red cards in two weeks - ridiculous. However just as at Brentford we left with much less than we deserved and I am sure on a level playing field we would have earned more points than we currently have. Still a long way to and surely soon we will start to get the breaks our team spirit and play deserve |
 | News Comment | Brentford 4-3 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 21:54:21
Despite today’s result I have still got confidence that Town will avoid relegation. The Ipswich Town mantra that “We are running towards Adversity” was very much in evidence today. Following two sub-standard performances we were faced today with horrendous injury/illness problems but the team came out and started like the team we have come to know and love. Immediately after going 2 goals up we faced further adversity when Chiedozie went down with a nasty looking injury. Such a shame as he had been skinning the Brentford full back and causing havoc in their defence. However more than that the lengthy injury stoppage gave the Bees time to regroup and adjust their tactics to frustrate us. Two VAR calls went against us (no surprise there!) but we fought back again and Liam almost saved a point for us close to the end only for that clown Muric to throw it all away. Today showed that our never give up philosophy is still alive and kicking and when we get back to squad normality I feel that we will secure enough points to survive |
 | News Comment | Walton: Amazing Highs Over the Last Two Seasons at 13:24:52
We now have Walton and Burns as the latest players to have arrived in Suffolk to be captivated by the facilities of Ipswich as well as our wonderful coastline, beautiful countryside and being able to live in a relatively low crime area. The exceptional support of loyal, enthusiastic and friendly fans has also no doubt contributed to the likes of Sir Alf Ramsay, Bryan Hamilton, George Burley, Alan Hunter, Matt Holland, Mick Mills, Alan Lewis, Cole Skuse, Luke Chambers and no doubt several others who have left from various corners of the U K and decided to make their lifetime home in the wonderful County of Suffolk. |
