Has anyone ever scored twice and been our worst rated player? |

The atmosphere started flat because 10k were still stuck outside at kick-off, queuing up for the airport-style security. Ridiculous and totally OTT. [Post edited 4 Dec 2024 13:59]

I like the comparisons with other sports. The key for me is that, in rugby, cricket and tennis, the best team/player on the day usually wins because so many points/runs are available and attainable. Whereas in football, the best team on the day doesn’t always win. For me, that’s why it’s the best sport in the world. Underdogs have a chance in every game, purely because the act of scoring a goal is much harder than scoring points in rugby or runs in cricket. And in tennis, one player has to win every point which again favours the better player on the day. |

A rare huge one in our favour was at home to Leicester last season when KDH was clearly wiped out for a penalty when they were already 1-0 up. Ref somehow didn’t see it. Then Morsy scored his quintuple deflected equaliser late on. You’re right overall though; we are, without question, in a net deficit. |

The devil’s advocate, which many players and former players use, is that, if you’re fouled but you don’t go to ground, the refs don’t give it. Unfortunately the stats support this. It’s just annoying when the simulation is so ridiculous like today. But I agree with your overall point. We’ve only had one call go for us this season and it was the handball at Spurs which doesn’t offset anything for me given it was a binary decision, no opinion required. |

Thanks for the analysis. Frustrating for me and my friends who are all on 19 because we couldn’t get that magical 5th away point for the smaller Brentford allocation (to take us to 20). The highly frustrating thing this morning was the queue system being brought in out of no where for the 15+ release at 10am. It’s the first time the queue system has come in for an away game. For previous away games, we had checked the status of tickets the night before, planned the seats we’d aim for and been efficient with refreshing the page at 10am. Been successful every time. But now with the queue system, that goes out the window and it’s a complete lottery. I just spoke to the ticket office and they said it wasn’t a conscious decision to engage the queue system this morning. Apparently it was due to higher website traffic due to the Everton resale tickets going live at the same time. Fingers crossed this is just a one-off, otherwise we’ll be stuck at 19 for the rest of the season, as OP suggests. |

It is definitely a closed shop for away games this season except for the handful that go into the ballot but the main cause is not the club’s system; it’s all away tickets now being capped at £30. An unfortunate consequence of this is that clubs with the largest stadiums are now selling the bare minimum allocation to away teams (3,000). So whereas before, people in lower brackets would be able to have a shot at Arsenal, Spurs, Utd, etc… now it’s purely the same 3,000 going to each game (or less for <30k stadiums). |

As you can probably guess from my username, I’m a part time Parma fan as well as a full time Ipswich fan so I watched a lot Ooster at the Ennio Tardini before he moved to Turkey (which, I can assure you, Parma fans were gutted about, which says a lot since he wasn’t there much longer than a year). First off, he is absolutely a left-back rather than a centre half. Whilst he is big enough to play at centre half, he was often moved up to left wing when needed rather than into central defence. The guy is a beast. Imagine a slightly smaller Tyrone Mings but rapid and extremely athletic. He’s also a very good dribbler. Needed more work on his final ball and crossing but he’s still young. His marking wasn’t amazing but his phenomenal tackling ability and pace often got him out of sticky situations. I’m not sure where he’d fit in a team with Davis in it though. I expect just to provide Leif some competition. |

Rotherham striker "Huggle" going off in the second half was a particular highlight. |

Our best chance was in the very first minute. The Humphreys shot from the corner. It was nestling right in the bottom corner before the keeper somehow got down to it in time. But as soon as this and the Burgess chance didn't go in, you just knew it was going to be 0-0. |

Has anyone managed to get anywhere with their admin regarding getting refunds for Saturday? I've been told that, as the video worked on some apple devices, and that I could at least get audio on my laptop, I was provided an adequate service apparently! |

I think a lot of people are over-thinking the location of their seats. The stadium is incredible and all seats have an excellent view. And, more importantly, no one sat in their allocated seat last year anyway. It was simply a case of the earlier you got there, the more central in the away end you were. |

I agree with the OP and am not concerned about our form against top teams any more. Bolton: we win if Morsy scores his tap-in at the death (which he scores 9 times out of 10). Barnsley: we win if the officials don't make a terrible decision. Sheff Wed: we win if the officials don't make several terrible decisions. Plymouth: the best team we've played, by a mile, and we created more than enough chances to win. As has been pointed out a couple of times above, the main difference is the manner of these draws/defeats. We could and should have won three of them and Plymouth couldn't have complained too much if we'd snuck three points on Sunday (although Morsy should have seen red). In the previous three seasons down at this level we've barely laid a finger on the top 6 when playing them. |

The other enormous elephant in the room for Labour is the SNP's rise in the last decade. Without the Scottish vote, it will always be extremely hard for Labour to win a majority. They'd need to either defeat the SNP in Scotland once again, or form a very unlikely alliance with them... |

There is also the fact that, since the moment McKenna took over, pretty much every opposing manager said we were the best team they'd faced all season. Soundbites like that doesn't go unnoticed outside of our internal ITFC bubble after a while. |
