McAteer: Familiar Faces Will Help Me Integrate
at 15:32:44

For what it's worth, a friend of mine who is a Leicester fan is very disappointed they have sold McAteer, says he is a bright young player, has been impressed with him and thinks he has great potential

Hutchinson: Ipswich Will Always Have a Place in My Heart
at 23:00:04

It was clear as day he was leaving before he avoided playing, if that's really what happened. Frankly if I was Brentford or Forest I wouldn't have wanted him on a competitive pitch. Imagine if he'd been carried off injured against Birmingham, £37.5m down the drain.
He's a young lad who has been fantastic for the club, and made us a huge profit.
I think the club have done a great job bringing him on and selling him for that price. He wasn't that great in the Prem last year. I expect we can add better for half the price.
Some of the vitriol on here is awful.

Butcher: I'd Have Made Omari Train on His Own
at 22:31:33

In principle I agree with Butch, if there was any chance he was staying at the club. And I'm sure deals are never done till they're done.
But we don't know where things were with his transfer and what had been said to him - maybe it was really very clear that he was on his way, and here we are a few days later with the BBC confirming his move to Forest.
He has been fantastic for Ipswich, and a key part of our promotion winning side, and helped to give us half a chance last season. Not to mention a large profit.
He's a young guy, dependent on agents and those around him. Give him a break.

Chelsea Trigger £30m Delap Release Clause
at 19:32:35

All the press comment on this suggests that the club bought Delap with a fixed price release clause. It is hard to believe this is correct, but I am shocked if it is. It seems extraordinary that the club could have bought him, taken all the risk on him, and agreed to cap its upside. Man City also have a percentage of the upside - effectively Man City also allowed their upside (as a share of it) to be capped.
How could a young player like Delap in that situation have such influence that he could dictate those terms?
Can't believe the club would have done this.

Ashton: We Need Answers, Howard Webb to Meet Us at Portman Road This Week
at 11:43:21

Maybe some of our defending has left a bit to be desired, maybe we have missed a couple of sitters. But Ashton is right, we have consistently been on the wrong end of inexplicably bad decision making by refs + VAR this season, which has had a direct adverse effect on our points tally. It might just continue regardless, but at least if the club stands up for itself loudly there is a chance that things will improve.

McKenna: Unacceptable For a Referee to Put Himself at the Centre of the Match Like That
at 00:09:44

McKenna is spot on, outrageous that a Premiership ref + VAR could come up with that outcome from 30 seconds of football.
Frankly the Championship was more fun, at least we could win games fair and square.
But we deserved to win that, we deserved more out of last week, we are getting better, despite the injury list.

Town Confirm O'Shea Signing
at 22:25:09

So good to see us sticking to bringing in good quality young players, many the pick of last year's Championship. KMcK will improve them. If we don't stay up this year, we will have some fantastic assets, and what a team we could have next season in the Championship. I am really hopeful now that KMcK can craft a side from our now excellent young squad to stay up

Town Announce New £105m Investment From Bright Path Sports Partners
at 19:17:19

Realist - if you watch the announcement video, the £105m is explicitly explained as being investment raised into the club, not a sale by our current owners. That says to me that our owners are being diluted down to 60% by the new investors at a valuation of £260m (although that may not be the right number depending on the make of the investment), rather than selling their shares.
This money is cash to invest over time in the club. Happy days.
Given the club's position (potential, and losses funded in the last 2 years), I expect new investment from somewhere was a necessity.
There may be many reasons why the Arizona Pension Fund didn't follow its original investment with more money - it may be that they have their own internal restrictions which made that undesirable, who knows. From my perspective, having more than one professional investor in the club is a good thing, meaning deeper pockets, and makes little difference - they are both relying on the same management team, and will make decisions professionally.

Town Announce New £105m Investment From Bright Path Sports Partners
at 22:20:51

Van_Blue if that is the situation, that Bright Path have invested in new shares to dilute ORG, no cash out, and (if I read it right) the other shareholders have invested alongside, I am delighted - that should give us the resources to invest in the club, invest in the squad and compete however things turn out. I know there is often scepticism about professional investors, but that is what we have had in ORG - in stark contrast to Marcus Evans, they have brought in and backed a strong and experienced management team, and together have made disciplined decisions based on a plan, and we have all seen the benefits of that. Unlike some other more high profile owners, they leave the running of the club and football decisions to management. Whether or not we get promoted this season, I think we can be very excited for the future

Burgess Wins Cap as Socceroos Beaten at Wembley
at 23:09:40

Congratulations to Burgess, who did himself proud. Frankly, Southgate's teams have for some time displayed everything that is wrong about out of date, slow, defensive football - ironically whilst having pretty much the most talented squad of players in the world to use. It is in stark contrast to the fantastic fast, free-flowing, brave football being played by McKenna's Ipswich. Southgate has only done well by being given the best squad of players in decades to manage, and has wilted when the chips were down. What a waste.

Wycombe, Aberdeen and Plymouth Join El Mizouni Chase
at 22:11:54

I agree PortmanT, the team improved so much after Luongo took over in midfield alongside Morsy. Evans, not sure. Camara has potential but for us is still an unknown quantity, Ball looked a poor replacement, Humphreys probably has potential. But I think maybe we will hang on to El Miz, he also has potential to step up having had such a good season.
But who knows who else is on the radar. Very exciting times!

Ipswich Town 6-0 Exeter City - Match Report

Would have given anything to be at Portman Road today. Brings back memories of glory days. It is amazing to see what sensible investment, great club management, a fantastic team manager and a well assembled and coached team can achieve.
The lovely thing is that we are such a good footballing team, it has been such a pleasure to watch them in Ipswich and online over the last 2 or 3 months. I have such high hopes for this team in the Championship. It will be fascinating to see what changes are made to the squad in the Summer. For me, keep almost everyone, get Hirst in!
Enjoy the celebrations!

Fans Urged to Stay Off the Pitch
at 23:36:15

I know everyone would be excited, and want to celebrate - but it is the players and manager that have got us here. They have just delivered the most incredible run of results to achieve this, practically the best in the club's history. Do them the courtesy of allowing them to celebrate on the pitch and do a lap of honour, which everyone gets to enjoy. If you all head on the pitch, they will head off

Ipswich Town 6-0 Charlton Athletic - Match Report
at 19:03:22

Fantastic result and performance, against what is really a pretty decent League One side. Shows how much we missed Broadhead against Cheltenham.
5 huge games left. We desperately need to win promotion now to keep these players at Ipswich, they have shown what they can do and clubs in higher leagues will be queuing up if we are still in League One come the end of the season.
I do think we can do well with this squad in the Championship if we are successful.
Everything crossed. Just keep it up!

McKenna: Conditions Made a Tough Game Even Harder
at 22:49:15

All sensible stuff as usual from KM. Maybe not quite as strong a performance as some, but frankly we dominated the game from start to finish, created a lot of opportunities and limited Cheltenham to very little - they scored what was in fact a very fortunate goal.
I know it was a frustrating finish.
But another day Hirst's shot would have slammed into the net off the crossbar, and we would be celebrating another efficient victory.
The team have had a magnificent few weeks, and I fully expect them to carry that through to the rest of the season.
So put your negative thoughts behind you, and bring on Charlton.
