Tell me, do you think of yourself as lazy? If not, what do you think gives you the right to accuse all those people you don't know of actually choosing not to work? |

Sorry if it sounds like that, but what strikes you as implausible? That the riots are organized? There are 39 locations listed ('Wednesday night, lads! No more immigration! 8pm. Mask up!), and four of them are in the eastern region: two in Essex, one in Cambs, one in Beds. |

I'm a journalist. This morning a colleague cracked a social media site used by the rioters, and discovered they are planning to attack a number of 'pro-refugee' sites around the country. Four are in East Anglia. Since contact with the police is impossible, we notified them. This may well lead to groups at those premises looking to defend themselves. It's an outrageous situation, but would they qualify as men (but the other side) armed with weapons? |

It's always contemptible to choose any group of people, without knowing any of their circumstances, and accuse them of some vague moral failing of which you, of course, are never guilty. |
 | Forum Thread | Unexpectedly high turn-out at 17:11 4 Jul 2024
Reports from across the country, and directly from polling stations in East Anglia, suggest there is a much higher turn-out than expected. And the last opinion poll, published yesterday, reported a slight movement towards the Tories. It's possible the two are linked. |
 | Forum Reply | Are the people at polling station allowed to say candidate suspended? at 15:55 4 Jul 2024
The recommendation is to call Mid Suffolk on 0300 123 4000 (Option 7). The authorized statement from the polling station is: "Candidate Kevin Craig was validly nominated as an authorised candidate of the Labour party, so is included as that on the ballot paper." |
 | Forum Thread | Philogene at 15:50 4 Jul 2024
From the BBC: "Ipswich are hopeful of completing the signing of England Under-21 international Jaden Philogene from Hull. The 22-year-old wide man is keen to join the Tractor Boys and is in advanced talks, despite interest from several established Premier League clubs. At the same time, Hull defender Jacob Greaves could also move to Portman Road in a deal that will cost the promoted side around £30m for the pair. Everton and West Ham remain keen on Philogene, while Hull owner Acun Illicali has said interest from Barcelona is real, but the forward believes a move to Ipswich represents the best option at this time in his career." |

The Labour candidate in Central Suffolk and North Ipswich is still standing, and still described as the Labour candidate. He has been suspended, but that looks temporary and doesn't affect the legitimacy of his candidacy. |

Bookies will only tell you where the punters are putting their money. Try a tactical voting site: there are several. Or tell me which is your constituency: at the moment I'm writing about the election outcome every day. |

Actually he is still standing, and as the Labour cabdidate, and the 'administrative suspension' is looking slightly silly. The MRP polls still give him to win, and I doubt whether the suspension will havexaffected his core vote much. |

I'm suspicious of over-rating Reform's vote. I doubt they Ave the activists or the nous or the machine to make it happen, even if the preference figure is true. In fact I don't many of the Reform figures. It's bloody hard to win a seat and takes months of heart-aching work. I just don't see the Reform carpetbaggers have it. |
 | Forum Reply | Poll news: Waveney Valley at 09:03 19 Jun 2024
Labour aren't contesting Waveney Valley because Loestoft is still neck and neck, and they are putting all their resources in there. |

The big don't know is Suffolk Coastal. Labour ought to be the tactical vote, but MRP doesn't know about the fury among usual Labour supporters over the party's stance on pylons and Sizewell C. The Greens stand little chance there - all their supporters are working in Waveney Valley - but the LibDems claim they are taking those votes. There is little evidence of that, in spite of the determination of their candidate, so where to put your cross? There is a danger that Coffey may be returned on a split opposition vote. |
 | Forum Reply | Blimey, I've just seen the latest MRP poll for my seat (south suffolk) at 07:22 19 Jun 2024
The reason why the MRP polls don't show the Greens leading in Waveney Valley is that, however more sophisticated they have become, they don't actually poll the seat. So they can't take account of strong local issues. Waveney Valley covers much of the Mid Suffolk Council area, and the council was taken by the Greens last year. MRP doesn't know what's happening on the ground, so they can't take into account that the Greens have a hugely strong ground game, with every party activist around drawn in to work there. Whereas Labour has poor organization, and don't hold a single council seat. |

The tactical vote in S Suffolk is Labour. They have a chance. Waveney Valley is probably the only likely Green seat in this area, but they are the only real challengers to the Tories there. They've put all their eggs in that basket, because the candidate is Adrian Ramsay, the party leader. |
