Tunisia - anyone been 🇹🇳
at 10:17 30 May 2025

Watch your UV. The coast has a lovely refreshing breeze which is there to deceive young white English men full of beer into thinking the factor 15 sun cream they applied 6 hours ago is still legit.

If Leeds remove Farke is that madness or innovative?
at 01:10 25 Apr 2025

Small sample size but my Leeds contingent friends are worried he’s not tactically up to the challenge, and right now they just have better players than a very weak Championship.

McIlroy v Rose Masters Play off

Ludvig simmering away in the background for most of the day too. Felt like I counted 6 or 7 birdie putts that got away from him that would've put him right in contention on another day! Fantastic drama right from the off.

I don't think anyone's doubting that there will be additional clauses between us and the player that boost the value long term for us (sell ons, etc). It could also be an upfront fee. We mere mortals are never likely to know the granular detail.

The premise being challenged though is that we'd somehow still have a bidding war from multiple clubs over and above the value needed to trigger the release clause.

Does the delap fee / margin mean we’ll be forced into other sales?
at 09:00 10 Apr 2025

I keep seeing this and can't work out if there's something I'm missing or if people are just in denial.

Nobody is paying over the release clause fee to the parent club. We must accept any + all bids that meet the terms of the clause. Those teams will then do their bidding via personal terms, wages and bonuses to the player, who has the decision.

To the OP, I have always expected Delap and Omari to leave, although the latter depends on a sizeable bid coming in. I think he could be one that agitates for a move if KM leaves.

Davis is such a weapon in the Championship you'd be reluctant to let him go.

O'Shea is being sized up for the captaincy but he might fancy another relegation season with one of the promoted sides.

A season in the Championship could be perfect for Muric. He has good attributes, could build the other side of his game with a bit more time and space.

AAH would make no sense. He's young, scored goals for fun at lower levels, and has been managing a pretty major injury. Costs nothing to keep around so probably has another couple of loan spells before we make a decision IMO.

Delap reported 40m clause...
at 21:11 7 Apr 2025

The reported clause is dependent on relegation, so your best case scenario is off. If we survived he would still be ours with no obligations.

I wonder how KM feels right now
at 18:28 6 Apr 2025

For someone as measured as KM, I really don't think he could have many complaints (inwardly or otherwise) at this stage. He knew the opportunities available, knew the challenge here, made the decision to stay. The scenario that has played out since was the overwhelmingly most likely one. Not much has changed or played out unexpectedly.

He could have only stayed with the belief that relegation, in the context of his journey and the gap between Championship & Premier League, would not badly damage his reputation. In return, he's had a season to learn the ropes with a good-will and patience that he wouldn't have gotten at a new club.

I suspect there will still be a cluster of sides in the bottom 2/3rds of the Premier league that would still be curious to see what he could do with better resources. I think it would've taken a midtable finish to be in any serious conversations about a Spurs / United type club.

Morsy
at 22:15 2 Apr 2025

IF we are relegated, I think Morsy will still be one of the best defensive midfielders in the Championship next season. He hit his prime late and the result is that he doesn't have the athleticism required for premier league football, but he looks after the ball extremely well.

With the extra yard of space in the Championship I think he's still a very decent option.

Leeds, here we go again!

You’d struggle to back them in the playoffs wouldn’t you? The mental pressure after last season will be huge, and you never know when Meslier is going to throw one in his own net.

I do think they’ll make it across the line, but by Christ it would be funny if they imploded.

I'm bored, so I had a look.

20th October 2018 - 1st Jan 2019 our run was W1 / D3 / L10.
We kicked the season off with 1 win in 21 games.

Then I stumbled on this beauty from just less than 4 years ago:

Some useful context which has made me feel much better

Won 1, drawn 4, lost 10 at home. I haven't seen us win a game yet home or away.

I don't think anyone's going to bemoan anyone for feeling a little flat.

Turns out the real prize (for us fans anyway) was the journey.

Has KMs contract got a significant % drop in wage if managing in the Champ?
at 10:57 9 Mar 2025

Palace's "previously unknown" manager won the Europa league with Frankfurt. He was appointed in February 2024, when we were in the Championship. There's a reason we paid top dollar to keep McKenna around - it got us promoted.

The idea that we could just easily pick up another one of the best young managerial prospects in Europe is total fantasy.

Things that you look back on and think ‘wtf was that’
at 13:01 7 Mar 2025

Finally being allowed to go for a walk in our local park in East London, only to be harrassed by police with megaphones to keep moving, do not gather, do not sit down. It was black mirror-esque.

News cameras then turning up every other weekend to said park because look at all the young people hanging about outside in the sunshine...

Our obviously minted CFO laughing at me on a zoom call because "it looks like you're working in your bedroom!"...That'll be the £1000pcm bedroom I rent to be close to the office you closed, you freak of nature.

I had a look back, Ait-Nouri was sent off in the tunnel after the game, Delap was also given a yellow. Cunha wasn't punished until he was charged afterwards.

You'd hope sense will prevail and they'll extend his second ban, but technically this is his first red card.

It's 4 if it's a second red, however I don't think he actually got sent off against us and was banned in retrospect.

Obviously if there's a loophole the FA will push him through it head first, so I won't hold my breath on a 4 match ban.

A 40% ownership stake was sold around this time last year for £105 million, valuing the club at £262.5 million.

We've been promoted since then, in case you missed it.

I'd argue we did with the changes, but just didn't show the quality.

I don't disagree with the overall point that teams with defenders worth more than the majority of our squad can find a way to neutralise the extra man. The 3rd gave them something to sit on rather than taking any risks of their own with a home crowd that would've been baying.
