 | News Comment | Hutchinson Release Clause Set to Expire as Brentford Make Approach at 09:40:54
Someone could - in theory - sign him for less than £35m today, but only if we were to accept a bid (which I doubt we would). I a club was to offer £35m today, we are 'forced' to accept, and goes straight to contract negotiation with the player. What will change is that after today we get to decide if we accept any offer before Hutch can enter personal negotiations. I wouldn't say this makes it completely 'now or never' but it means that we hold more cards after today, as any and all bids have to be accepted by us. |
 | News Comment | Delap Nominated For Goal of the Month at 13:58:30
Come one Town fans, lets vote as much as we can! Can you imagine your first Prem goal being GOTM!? Also, would be a tidy couple of fingers up to the BBC for their comedy of reporting errors.... |
 | News Comment | Manchester City 4-1 Ipswich Town - Match Report at 21:07:52
We need to remember that the PL is essentially three leagues rolled into one: City, Arsenal & Liverpool are in a class of their own. Then the next top 6-10, and finally the rest. Arsenal went through the gears and dispatched Villa, much live Liverpool did to us. A lot of teams have a -5 goal difference in two games against City & Liverpool. In the same way that had to pick up points against the likes of Forest Green, well, we're now the Forest Green to City. The key is to not panic, learn from the mistakes. And the key mistake here is switching off - you cannot at all at this level - and being better, critically against the teams when it matters. Honestly, we could probably play our best game of football of the year against City and still lose (likely comfortably!). We're strengthening the squad, and I'm confident the results will come. Remember, we only have to be better than three others! |

Enjoying the fact that Phil chose a photo with our own Clarke for this article! |

One of the best written and emotive blogs I've seen here. Great piece. |

I like someone being open about this. We all consider job offers, and suggests that he wants to be serious and invested in the place he signs for. |
 | News Comment | Blues Among Clubs Linked With Skipp at 18:55:54
The fact McKenna has worked with him before (and his track record of improving players) surely makes is front runners between the promoted clubs. Also, going to hazard a guess that McKenna knows his character fairly well, and will still be very well connected at Spurs to get a very honest review! |
 | News Comment | Skipper Morsy Signs New Deal at 11:27:05
I wonder when he wasn't getting game time at Boro if he ever thought he'd be captaining a Premier League side...? Doubt it, but hell, he deserves it. This is great news. |

I feel like I may be in the minority here, but I'm not too disappointed by this. Vas undoubtedly made some great saves, but many of these were his own doing. He had a bit of a penchant for blocking balls into danger zones that, in the PL, I think would be punished. When I look at the truly world class 'keepers, they're great because they keep things simple. They make world class saves when they need to, but they didn't need to because their anticipation is better. (Granted, they often have equally good defenders in front of them, which helps!). Simply, they don't need to make as many world class saves, because they don't get into that bind in the first place. In the same way that Vas looked shaky when he first arrived and then improved dramatically, it will be interesting to see if Walton has improved with the ball at his feet. That said, there is no doubt that we're in the market for a new #1, and Walton is surely planned to be a backup. Finally, if the disagreement is about not guaranteeing game time, this strikes me as very odd - and kind of a confidence issue. If you need it guaranteed in your contract, is that because you're afraid to fight for the right to play? If I were to work in a truly "performance based" environment (i.e., sales), I wouldn't expect a guaranteed bonus. Best of luck to the lad, but the PL feels like a rung to far for him. |
 | News Comment | McKenna's New Deal Finally Confirmed at 16:11:32
Forgot that this would have involved contracts for the four assistants as well. Given the inevitable interconnectedness of their contracts, that's a lot of lawyers to agree to any changes! Great news, and I don't doubt that KM and MA have hard at work on the day job, too - although now it can return to its typical razor sharp focus again. |
 | News Comment | Ipswich Town 3-2 Southampton - Match Report at 20:23:58
The gap between us and sixth (whose sixth again...!?) is 23 points. That's the same gap between sixth and Plymouth, in 21st. That shows 1) how well we're doing this year, but also 2) just how bonkers this league is! |
 | News Comment | Ball: A Great Opportunity at 11:12:02
He often plays in league matches, though. Yes, as a late sub, but coming in either in defensive mid or along the back line (CB or RB) to see out games. A critical role, and he's clearly trusted as a true utility player. |
