There is an interesting line in one of the stories posted earlier that mentions Lee O'Neill.
"He confirmed he met with Evans at Playford Road yesterday as well as Lee O’Neill, who we understand has taken on a more general football operations role while retaining his position as academy director."
Does anyone know much about him and what the development of his role will be?
There are a lot of people talking Mick McCarthy leaving in the summer and who would be the ideal replacement. I'm all for Mick moving on but the worry is the hole he leaves in terms of football knowledge. Evans and Milne don't seem to have much idea between them and it appears Mick is pretty well left to run the football side of things. For me a Director of Football would be as important an appointment as the next new manager. I don't think it will happen as it is another mouth to feed and Evans won't want to spend more money but a Joe Royle type to sit and run the football side of the club would really be of benefit. It would allow a younger coach to come in and look after the first team whilst the Director of Football could oversee the rest. It would help link the first team to the academy and would also give a younger coach a bit of guidance as needed. It would also take away the situation we currently have that when Mick goes we start again from scratch.
