The important stuff….the kits!
at 17:02 29 Aug 2024

100%. Fulham have the adidas euros template and it looks dynamite. I’d rather have a understated but quality kit than flash but superficial. Especially given our current position. We’re not Napoli look at me look at me, we’re Ipswich Town and we’re here to survive, don’t mind us!

Been banging this drum for a while but the fact the designs printed into the fabric of the torso aren’t repeated on the sleeves, or in the case of the maroon away even the back, really makes them seem a bit cheap.

My reissued 92 white away has a zigzag pattern in the fabric of body and sleeves and it feels and looks really premium.

Johnson.. what do you think
at 07:19 29 Aug 2024

He’s been mixed for sure. But can I remind everyone he’s played midfield against city and off bench against Liv. Not normal position. Feel like that’s got forgotten in the public discourse

Careful what you wish for 2.0

He's right about one thing: should've let the big six (seven now?) go off to their euro super league. Honestly. Those clubs are on a different plain now, its not worth trying. Can we reel in man city now or newcastle in 3 years, no. Can we reel in Everton and West Ham, yes.

A new top league made of lower prem/upper championship would be outstanding.

Did you know we use a "Their double 6 pivot"

Didn't see any jargon personally. If anything I thought we were running pretty fast

Surprised I haven't seen a thread on it, but looking like a nightmare travelling

The strikes dont seem to have much or any effect on the timetable of the London to Ipswich line, even allowing for the rail replacement. Normal or near-normal services according to the greater anglia site. https://www.greateranglia.co.uk/strikes Some of the smaller lines are closed, like the felixtowe line.

What the impact on general service will be remains to be seen

Ultra Processed People
at 16:38 14 Aug 2023

Sounds interesting, as mentioned by others I'm very intrigued by Tim Spectors stuff on gut-biomes.

Always a bit worried that your smoked meats, prosciutto etc are going to fall under the ultra processed umbrella, in which case I'd rather not know.

LA

Downtown LA is not nice by any definition but would still reccomend a visit just to have a look and experience it if you're interested in the nitty gritty of america. Ride the subway or bus too. The USA is such a strange place I personally feel its worth not just seeing the good bits.

Other reccs above all about right, plus the Getty is incredible and FREE (minus 20 bucks parking)

What’s a good result on Sunday?
at 12:23 4 Aug 2023

A draw would be a fine result.

I normally prefer a score draw but I think a 0-0 might be the more encouraging result in this case

Bumper length K Mac interview

You’re absolutely right here. In the Luongo and Ashton interviews the second camera was on the wrong side so their eyeline was constantly switching sides. Completely amateur! That’s an absolute basic

Which kits (if any) will be changed next year?
at 19:37 27 Mar 2023

Is there any club who doesn't do one year kits these days? I distinctly remember when it was standard 2 years and that was much better imo. If they must, they should change one only next year and maintain a two year cylce thereon. At least one new kit every year to keep people interested but parents arent ponying up for a new blue one every season.

Band of Brothers - decided to revisit after seeing it when first released
at 10:35 3 Feb 2023

Just saw this post, I also rewatched recently and was struck by how unforgiving it is. Very confusing at times, characters come and go and hard to tell apart in the snow or under their coats and helmets, lots of information delivered quickly and opaquely. These are all compliments!

Rather like The Wire it challenges the viewer to comprehend the reality of war and refuses to sugar coat or spoon feed. Seminal work.

One of the best home debuts I can remember from Clarke that. Scintillating runs in that inside channel, love him

John Jules’s Absence

Coincides with the post Charlton slump where we’ve struggled killing games off. Feel like TJJ’s lay off could be a part of that. Maybe anyway, I’ve not got time to see where and when his goals came, just an idle thought really

Let's not dress it up
at 17:14 21 Jan 2023

It was, and yet we had ample opportunity for what, 3 goals? A team on a roll wouldve won that game despite the performance. I try to blame intangibles like 'mentality' but what else could it be, especially when combined with the errors at the back

Edit: I try NOT to blame intangibles like menatlity

I'd chuck Wrexham v Sheff United into that list but yeah

Edit: can't see man u reading being high up the list actually. Not much narrative there

I think this is a very good tie. We've not been drawn away at The Hurricanes, sure. But its a massive football test against a team at least on the same planet as us, who do have a few big names not least the manager and its at home (key) which puts it in the realm of winnability.
