Tom Adeyemi
at 11:26 14 Apr 2019

This is going to cause major knee jerk reactions but hear me out.

Where does his career go now. He's back in training but will anyone offer him a contract. Can't help thinking an Adeyemi from 2 years ago (
pre injury hell) would be absolutely the sort of player we need for L1 and someone out of our reach now. SO....i wouldnt be averse to keeping him. There i said it. BUT hold reaction for now. He needs to prove his fitness and clearly you could not offer him a standard contract. I'm talking a very modest wage with the majority being on a pay when played basis (or in squad x amount, in team x amount etc).

So basically it's built so next to no risk for us.

I apprecuate most will say cut the cord, move on. But he's a cracking player, athletic and well built for L1 football. You can put the kids in with him as good experience. It's just vert tempting if he would accept all the risk himself in his contract and not us....

Nolan comments - very telling!
at 19:57 3 Apr 2019

He has learnt more in 5 months under Lambert then rest of his career. That tells you all you need to know re Hurst unfortunately given most of his career has been under him. His comments are really illuminating on Lambert as well. He talks about how they've always just worked it out on the pitch in his career but now everyone knows there jobs (similar to under MM) but also loads of coaching on movement and routines etc. Lambert is a proper coach, with so much to offer the players. Obviously its not an overnight fix and has completely worked with the players at his disposal (many like Nolan who have never had to absorb this sort of coaching).

For the more senior pros who have played a good level like Waghorn, Garner and lesser extent Webster and others who have stayed i think mines would have been made up on Hursts much more basic methods.

Interesting read and for anyone questioning why Lambert is right man given his record here its stuff like this why i back him. Like with Mick (albeit different styles) players know when they have a good manager!
Skuse and Bishop on please

Need some quality on the ball and some composure. We dont look like scoring if we played for 5 hrs though.

If he leaves who could blame him. For my money his leadership and experience will be invaluable next season especially helping to bring Woolfendon through. He would be an excellent CB at L1 level.

We still have this ridiculous section of fans who love to jump on the slating bandwagon. It's so annoying. Skuse the same.
Next season retain and move on
at 19:47 16 Feb 2019

Next season who of short termers or loans should we keep? And of the wider squad who should we move on? For me:

Keane (getting better and better and would be class in league 1)
Judge (just an absolute no brainer)
Collins (if he can play enough games before end of season and important signing)

Move on:
Adeyemi (what choice?!)
Knudson (would like to keep him but he'll be snapped up on a free)
Challobah (wont do L1)
Quaner (huddersfield will have him back for champ)
Pennington (not done enough and wont drop - Wolfenden will be ready for squad)

Could go either way:
Elder (question mark still - if free he is probably going to be a better option the Kenlock)
Bree (could prove himself a great addition still but need to wait and see).
We have not bite up front but...

We've been the better team after a torrid first 15. There isna team in there just with very low confidence. We're right in this game but can't see us scoring so more likely lose by 2-3 on the counter. Some nice football at times just not consistent. Lambert can make a team.out of this lot for next season.

Keane looks decent but a little rusty. Kind sums up our team. A good pre-season and we son't need to change too much. Sounds madness. I'd like Keane/judge deals sorted. Bish and Huws playing and we will be right up there.
Those turning on Lambert

Seeing a lot of comments now about him being no better etc and beginning to round on him. Just stop. The guy is passionate and gets it. He has the pedegree to be brilliant for us. He knows what it takes and crucially i do feel he wants to build something. Results haven't been kind or on occassion matched the performance but honestly it was never going to be easy and maybe it wasn't even possible to quick fix us. I'm not that interested in the quick fix now, its gone. I'm more interested in him beeing capable of uniting the fanbase and starting something great from next season. Get behind him, it will be worth it!

The reality is this. We are going to be in league 1 next season. We are not going to be shopping in the market of top managers if we lose him. I still feel he is a top manager. The chances of us getting better are less than our survival hopes and would probably require another punt in the dark like Hurst. No thanks!!
Really thought we would go at Rotherham and win by a few...

From that point of view not the performance i was hoping for i.e. this is the new Ipswich!!

However...sod it we won!! Like a final there was too much tension for this to be free flowing performance maybe.

Poor performance.
Game time in the legs of newbies! Not played much.
Huws back!!! And Skuse. Add Bish staying fit currently etc. Brilliant.
Judge maybe to add.
Keane scored, huge confidence boost for him.
Team morale boost!
