Best single moment in time following Ipswich Town
at 12:16 5 Dec 2024

Lots of good ones in here but I'll add Alan Armstrong's header at home to Inter Milan in November 2001. I was in the lower north and was right in the path of the ball as it floated into the net.

Best football I’ve seen from a Town side…ever
at 10:50 9 Oct 2023

I think John Lyall's 91-92 team deserve a mention here. In terms of defined patterns of play the way they used Steve Whitton on the right wing as a focal point for the likes of Kiwomya and Dozzell to play off was something opposition teams couldn't get to grips with and was pretty easy on the eye too. Let's not forget that they actually won the second tier too whilst giving a strong Liverpool team a real fright at Anfield in the cup so I definitely think then and now is comparable in terms of the ability to get the most out of a group of players.

Fraser to Swansea?
at 12:59 10 Dec 2021

Exactly this and when Fraser played as the 10 the other night the lack of pace from him, Morsy and Evans was glaring. The 10 in a 4231 has to do so much work that I think Fraser's lack of pace will always restrict what he can offer there. Chaplin has had most success in that role but plays it 5-10 yards further forward than Fraser wants to which is why Bonne looks so much more isolated without Chaplin as the 10.

One transfer window. I've asked a couple of times now and no-one's answered.

By the time the January window opened Norwich were third in the league though not hovering around mid-table so you'd have to say that's a turnaround already.

Vax for children
at 12:10 14 Sep 2021

My 14 year old son is currently on day 2 of isolation in his room having picked up Covid from someone during his first week back at school. He's only got a mild headache and loss of taste but has to miss 8 days of school in the crucial first few weeks of his GCSEs. If he or whoever he got it from had already been vaccinated it is less likely that either child would have experienced this disruption to their education.

As it is the disruptive effect of children or teachers dropping out after positive tests and then having to be helped to catch up will carry on for some months to come which will impact the amount of work they can get through.

My wife and I are double jabbed but are still trying to limit contact with him to avoid picking it up ourselves whilst we also have a daughter who is younger and not in the age range due to be jabbed so from someone going through it I'd recommend doing anything possible to limit the chances of the disease impacting your family.

Loan duration
at 13:47 4 Feb 2021

Does anyone know how long the loans for Thomas, Harrop, Matheson and Parrott last for? In the (extremely) unlikely event of them firing us to 6th place would they end up back at their parent clubs before the play-offs or would the loan include those games too? Seem to remember when we got into the play-offs in Royle's time a key player went back to his parent club and either Diallo or Santos ended up back in the team with disastrous consequences.

Btw there is no way I could emphasise how unlikely I think making the play-offs is but equally in the banter era it seems like something we'd inevitably have got wrong.

Lambert's tactics.....
at 14:31 11 Dec 2020

What's interesting is the quotes from Adem Atay after the FA Youth Cup comeback win over Fulham last week - "And in the second half it was a completely different looking team. We changed shape, we wanted to secure things up centrally but give us our width and penetrate from those areas and credit to the boys because they didn’t just win the game but they won it with style" so he has got a Plan B and the courage to use it whereas Lambert has spent a lot of the season making like for like changes and sticking to a rigid formation and approach. Joe's quote in the OP could even be construed as Lambert having a dig at Atay for not following his mantra fully but I'd be more comfortable with Atay's approach than PL's.
